The first time I came was a Friday so I got the catfish with fried okra and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. It was the most delicious meal- just perfect and I was in southern food heaven enjoying a moment of pure bliss. I ordered a piece of buttermilk pie to go, and that was amazing too. The specials are so reasonably priced! I came back on a Wednesday with my husband and got the chicken fried steak which was also so good. I haven’t stopped thinking about the catfish. I’m so glad I found this place!

Mesquite Bean Cafe serves breakfast and lunch, mostly simple fares but extremely delicious. I have gone to lunch here multiple times, and they never disappoint... my favorite is the jalapeño chicken soup which they serve on Tuesday. The cafe is not huge, the decor and furniture is a little outdated, but I don’t come here to look at them, I come for the food. The price is affordable, Parking is a little bit limited. They are open Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am to 2pm.

The absolute best crawfish i have ever had!!! i asked for it extra spicy and they did just that. I got there homemade dipping sauce for it and oh my!!! just fantastic not to mention the size of those crawfish were immaculate. The price may be higher then most but i’d get it again !! i’ve sent all my family there to try it after i got some !!!

I came here at 2 different times within a weeks time. 1st time my food was not great. I got the tilapia special and it had some sweet teriyaki sauce that wasn't specified on the menu and it was not good. Ruined the whole fish. I scraped it off but the taste was still there. I didn't want to reorder and wait for another coz I was hungry. The green beans had a real weird texture, almost slimy... might of been over cooked but the food came out at a decent time. 2nd time I went I thought I would give them another chance and order something else. We got there before lunch rush but our food never came out. We ordered right after another table and they recieved and finished their food while my daughter and I still waited for ours. I ordered a grilled chicken salad and she got half order of the frito pie for reference that we didn't order anything difficult or time consuming. We ended up leaving coz i honestly don't know if our order got lost or forgotten about but finally made it's way after we left to pay for our drinks. We picked up something else on our way home. Kinda...

I have lunch at the Mesquite Bean once a month with my mother and we both make it a point to order something we haven't had yet. So far everything we've tried has been amazing. Every dish seems to have a magical combination of flavors that is unexpected. You read the menu and think "Well that's an odd combination of things to put in a sandwich" then you try it and all of a sudden it's "How has no one ever thought of this before!?" I highly recommend trying this place out and trying multiple things in successive visits. Consider it an adventure in flavor...

Great food and best prices in area. Nicely decorated. Plain, simple, and clean. Not too many places where you can get a breakfast sandwich for less than $5 anymore. Service was great, and barely any people in the am hours, as most are late risers here. Only about 5 items on the breakfast menu and hours are limited, which is why I gave it 4 stars. Open at 8AM, which is earlier than most places here, but only open until 2PM, and not open on weekends. Conveniently located in the downtown area and...
