A lovely experience for a celebration or quality time spent with friends and family.
Modern, elegant and warm create an inviting and refined space. The decor is well - lit without being harsh on the eyes and offers an interesting style and variety with the use of patterns and various textures throughout the restaurant. Paired with the gentle chatter of patrons and the subtle music playing in the background heighten the luxurious experience they seek to give all of their patrons. As it's located within the Tower of the Americas, it has a phenomenal view above the city that feels both exciting and relaxing. There is a harmonious balance between the interior space that stands beautiful on its own and the exterior view to ease the mind. The floor also rotates, which adds a unique touch to the entire aspect of the place and allows you to take in the scene of the entire city around you paired with the large windows that allow you to take in a full scenic view. If you aren't one for heights, there's also seating closer towards the center with access to the same gorgeous view so that you can be more comfortable and not feel as though you're on the edge. Depending on which inner seating you should choose or be given you may or may not rotate to get a full view of the city but whether static or dynamic, the view is a sight to behold and is often the takeaway experience for many who've visited. If you are looking for a specific time to go based on the aura and view, I'd say it's heavily dependent on what mood you'd like to set: if leaning more towards thrilling and passionate then night time is best; if you want a causal but refreshing feeling then morning could be a better fit. Either way, you reap the benefits of a fantastic view.
The arrangement of the dishes are amazing to look at and definitely photo - worthy; they take eating with eyes quite seriously and make every dish look as tempting and appetizing as it both smells and tastes. The dishes themselves also sometimes come in very engaging shapes which, for me at least, adds more fun to the dining experience. Out of the dishes that were ordered we really enjoyed the lobster bisque, creamed spinach, blood orange lacquered king salmon and filet mignon with grilled shrimp. As much as one could rant about how fantastic the dishes are, I'd best sum it up as a performance of a life time for your tastebuds. They definitely go above and beyond with their skill to bring the best of flavors and experiences to a single plate! While the menus do tend to be changed often (possibly seasonal as it may relate to obtaining the freshest ingredients that time of year or perhaps to keep a rotation of variety) we highly recommend trying out these options if ever they become or are still available. If you've managed to keep enough room for dessert, the chocolate lava cake was a nice pick but the key lime pie is a great choice and my personal favorite!
Although we did have a slight mix-up with verifying appointment times it was worked out. The experience that made our night was with our waiter Alexander. Vigilant, personable and sprightly, his humble attitude with the effort to remember multiple needs was impressive and he was quick on his feet. He remained diligent in checking in, making light - hearted conversation and always being respectful to fellow members and patrons alike. We appreciated that he enjoyed sharing and keeping a smile which spread to others and made us feel welcomed and at ease. Many of the waiting staff keep an air of trustworthiness about them where you can know you're in good hands and they fulfill that promise each time. He made our night, continued to give the best service the entire time and was a delightful energy to have encountered.
As many times as we've come to this restaurant, the quality of food and experience with the staff has never once disappointed us. We look forward to coming here each time and it seems to stay exceptional no matter how slow or busy they may be. We look forward to being able to experience this kind of energy again on our...
Read moreStarting off with being sat, the hostesses seemed to be very uncoordinated when it came time to find people for reservations, we were asked about a different parties reservation while we were kept waiting for a table. Somewhat busy on a Monday night but that’s normal it’s busy not a big deal. Finally after being sat after about 20 minutes even with a reservation, we receive drinks and order from our server Cece, she was very nice and funny in the beginning and halfway through our dinner she did not seem to care about us anymore and gave her attention to her other tables without checking on us. We order after about 45 min after our reservation, again it’s busy not a problem we can wait we understand. But for a table who was sat after us to receive their food before us is not right. We understand that maybe things in the kitchen are run differently than most places, but for how much youre planning to spend we were quite annoyed that we were still yet to receive our food. 15 minutes after we order our server comes back to let us know an entree we ordered was no longer available that night and they had run out, we ordered another menu item and waited for our food. Not only were we walked past and ignored several times, after speaking to a manager “Emily” she belittled us and tried to assure us that they don’t usually let that happen and didn’t offer us any compromise for our poor service, we were talked to and treated like children with no parents, she only offered to take it off our tab to presumable get us to stop complaining, we were starving and didn’t want to send back our steak so we ate it as is. We received one salad after ordering 2 and they took it off our bill, we asked for a large molten lava cake to made when we ordered our food, as our server suggested yet we received a small molten cake with no ice cream or toppings just a cake (My significant other asked for it without nuts due to a peanut allergy which our server assured wouldn’t be an issue, after receiving a well done steak when we asked for medium, missing a salad, our server ignoring us even when we didn’t have our food still after waiting an hour, and the manager belittling us we had an awful time. At least we got to see the Alamodome 2 times before our salad even came out and we were missing one still. We enjoyed our time and the atmosphere but the service from our server and a manager did not make us feel very welcome. We traveled 8 hours from out of town to have a speciall occasion and have a fun time, reservation made in advance, but we still had a mediocre time at such a nice place as this, we cannot just come back next week like most can here, we didn’t want anything for free, we didn’t want anything comped from our bill, we just wanted good service and to have a good time which did not happen. Not once did our server ever ask how the food was after she herself did not bring it or our salad(s), we were not asked how everything was until halfway done with our food. I don’t expect anything for free, I don’t want to hear an automated response saying “thank you for your concern, please respond to this link that no one will ever check or read. We just wanted to have a good time and that did not happen, hopefully others can have a better experience than we did. Do better...

One day, on her birthday I took her to the Tower on a date. It was Christmas time and the city was lit up in lights and looking magical. I took her to the huge viewing windows and we overlooked all of the twinkling beauty. Then I pulled out a ring and proposed to her in front of everyone.
Years later in a renewal ceremony we tied the knot again at the very same place where she said yes. Since then I have also taken my daughters on Daddy date nights here as well as many other special memories.
This place is and always will be a part of the story of our lives.
SAD UPDATE!!! I guess poor management has turned the story into a nightmare.
So sorry to have to make this review update but we just went back for our 20 year anniversary and WOW what a sad turn around. We get there for our 9 pm. reservation, early even around 8:45 and checked it, even with many tables right on the glass open, we still couldn't get seated until 9:30. Then walking past very nice open tables we are sat at this corner table below a loud large party.
We told them ahead of time we were here to celebrate our 20 year anniversary so we wondered why they would put us there instead of the many empty tables we walked passed where we could sit facing each other, instead the put us in a corner booth siting side by side, that was odd. Then the disappointments begin.
I came for Prime Rib, I wanted prime rib, but I was informed that the cooks had burned it in prep so they had was well done and very well done. Sorry, but that's not prime rib :( So my wife ordered the cedar plank salmon and I ordered the coconut shrimp (even though we it for the app).
When the food came it was sad. I can describe, but the pictures say it all. No cedar plank on the cedar plank salmon that was dry and burned on top. The shrimp didn't come presented at all like it should with the bowl it came looking just like the app only the app came with sauces, apparently with the meal you have to ask. And the second set of shrimp was so much worse than the app, I don't know if it's just Sysco Food frozen shrimp they are using or what but it tasted like frozen.
The entire meal took us 2 hours, not because it was romantic, but because the food took too long to be overcooked and nasty with a poor presentation and on top of that our waitress spent a long time standing and talking to a friend that we couldn't even get the ticket to get out of there and try to salvage the night. In the entire meal I didn't get a single refill of my small glass of tea that cost $4.25 and I had to sweeten it myself (this is Texas guys, that's how tea comes)
20 years of marriage is a HUGE accomplishment especially in these times. We are not the richest people, to blow $150 on a meal and to be treated like that, served food like that, that is just beyond low class. The worst part is that I even tried to speak to the manager about it. I called and left a message for Richard Gerber to ask him straight up BEFORE I posted this update to see if he would make it right, I guess not, so here we are.
It's sad to see what has become of this...
