If you want a hotel convenient to the San Antonio Riverwalk, this is not your best choice. Despite the term "Riverwalk" in their name, this hotel is four blocks from the Riverwalk and is on dark and dangerous streets where I would not want to walk at night. We did rent a room at this motel and ended up driving to the Riverwalk and parking in one of the pay-parking structures. When we returned to the hotel in the evening we were informed that the motel's parking lot was full and that we would have to park in another lot which was down one of those dark streets and hidden behind another building. This other lot had only "visiting security", meaning that a guard might visit the lot but was not physically in attendance. At that point, we were a thousand miles from home and leaving our car in an unsecured parking lot did not seem like a safe idea. Although they advertise that they have free parking, I have been informed that this hotel has 30 parking spaces for their 64 rooms. Had I known this, I would never have considered using this hotel.
So we left this motel and went seeking another place to stay at ten o'clock at night. Fortunately, we were able to find another vacancy although it took us an hour and a half of wandering around an unfamiliar city in the dark.
The most insulting part of this story is that when we informed the motel desk that we were leaving unless they could provide secure parking, the front desk recommended that we park in a handicap space in the hotel lot even though I am not handicapped. I refused to do that because I believe it would be illegal and immoral to take a handicap space from someone who really needed it. The front desk then refused to reverse the charges on my credit card which required me to go through a dispute process with my credit card company.
Oh, did I forget to mention that check-in time is 3:00 p.m., which is when we arrived. However, the room was not ready until 5:00 p.m., requiring us to leave and return. How's that for 'customer service'? As you may guess, I'll never book another Worst Western hotel and would advise others to take note...
Read moreWish I could give zero stars! Worst nightmare of an experience! My girlfriend and I were on our first day of a two month road trip around the US and we drove 16hrs the first day from GA to San Antonio. On the way I found this best western online and started the booking process. I stopped part of the way through and called the best western 800 number to talk to someone about the hotel. I explained that we were towing a small pop out camper so I wanted to double check that there was rv parking as advertised and I was assured that would be just that. I booked the hotel and was excited to get a good night's sleep. Upon my arrival around midnight I noticed there was no rv parking at all. The only parking available was right next to a downtown street. There was even someone who had already taken the drive up space next to the door to park their trailer. I walked inside and inquired about the situation and the front desk person explained that my vehicle and belongings would be fine because they had night time security that patrol the parking lot. There were cameras in the parking lot and I felt reassured enough so I went upstairs and got my 6 hours of sleep. I awoke to the sight that my camper had been robbed. Someone had broken in and stolen around $800 or more worth of belongings. Not only did I have to wait 3 HOURS for the manager to arrive to talk to me about this (even though I was assured he lived 20 min away and would be there "any minute") but he actually told me he wouldn't do a single thing to make the situation better! I had to argue with him for about 20 min and finally made him call the best western number I had called the night before to verify that they had lied to me about rv parking. He finally reimbursed me for my nights stay but nothing else was done to make it up and the hastle of it all plus the loss of property made sure I will never in my life pay best western another cent of my money, and especially this place run by shoddy management who don't seem to have a decent bone in their body. Stay away...

Bad from (almost) the beginning. We checked in with the girl at the front desk on 10/29 no idea what her name was because she wasn’t wearing a name tag nor did she introduce herself. Wouldn’t have even known she worked there if she hadn’t been behind the desk. Got checked in got our keys and went to our room, and after about fifteen try’s (using both keys) Neither key worked. Went back to the desk and told the girl and her response was a little rude. Asking if I tried both keys and doing it slow etc, got new keys. Go back to the room, same thing. Go back to the desk and her response is I’ll come try. (Okay fine) it takes her a couple minutes but she finally gets it open and says to us “sometimes you just have to keep trying till it works” I don’t know about anyone else but I don’t want to spend three minutes every time I leave the room just to get back in) So we finally are in our room. Originally there were supposed to be four of us so we booked a room with 2 double beds. Fortunately only two of us ended up being able to go because when we checked in we were given a king room. I went to the desk to ask about the room we had the reservation for and the girl responds with oh I don’t know how that happened but we don’t have any other rooms... how do you have a reservation for a room and not have the room? The lighting in these rooms is ridiculous. I had to turn the ac down to 63 to get the room to cool down. Check out is at 12 pm. At 1044am housekeeping came pounding on the door waking us up and when we opened it all’s we got was “oh sorry” Now I have worked in a hotel as a housekeeper we were not allowed to knock on doors until after checkout... unless the guests had already come down and turned their key in.
For the money that was spent for 1 night I would NEVER recommend or come back...
