Stayed here for a work trip and the first thing that stood out to me when I got there was that this place charges $30 a night for parking. Yes, even if you are a paying guest at this hotel, they still charge you $30 a night for parking. If you have really deep pockets, you can pay even more than that if you opt for the valet service. I've never stayed at a hotel that charged for parking and seeing as how their rooms can go up to over $200 a night, I'm not really sure what the justification for this is. I was told by the front desk staff that this is apparently common practice in San Antonio, not that it makes it any more acceptable. The other thing worth noting is that this is not expressly spelled out on their site. If you look at the small print at the bottom of their page, it says "on site parking - fees may apply". There is no "may" about it, they DO charge for it. If they would at least advertise this on their site, people would know about it in advance and they could decide if they wanted to stay here or not.
As others have said, the lot tends to fill up and I'm not really sure what their backup plan is when it fills up. On my last night at the hotel, I almost couldn't find a spot in the lot as there was an incoming convention or something - so good luck with the parking situation.
The staff that I interacted with were polite, so I didn't have any issue with the staff. The room that I had was decent enough, so I don't really have any complaints about it and I didn't have issues with bugs or anything (did notice toilet handle was on the verge of breaking off). One thing I did notice was that no one came to clean or restock the room while I was there (stayed three nights total). I'm assuming it's a staffing issue since I've stayed at other hotels which did not clean your room unless you specifically requested it, but no one at the front desk informed me that this was their policy at check in and I didn't bother to ask.
The hotel has decent wifi and the rooms have outlets with USB ports for charging your gizmos. The hotel offers a breakfast which was pretty decent. The breakfast bar included waffles, muffins, fruit, fresh scrambled eggs, sausages, coffee, juice, yogurt, a variety of breads, and cereals. Rooms have a small single serving coffee maker in the room which I used, but I had to get extra coffee from the front desk since no one was cleaning or restocking the room during my stay. Rooms also have a small refrigerator and microwave.
The hotel is located right down the street from The Alamo and it's close to the River Walk, so it's close to local sites and you can easily walk from the hotel.
Overall, I think it's a decent enough hotel, but the biggest issue I have is the parking situation. There is no way I would stay here again knowing that they are charging for parking. Maybe this is standard practice for San Antonio, but it's fleecing your customers that are already paying a lot of money to stay...
Read moreThis hotel with a great location is sadly marred by various problems we had during our stay.
On the one hand, the location is super convenient, with both business and pleasure easily reachable on foot within 5-10 minutes. The pool and many seating spots next to it are a nice, cozy spot to unwind. The staff were generally friendly and pleasant, but only occasionally provided solutions to problems.
On the other hand, there were many downsides big and small: The AC unit was terribly loud, waking us up at least once per night. Turning it off is useless, because it comes back on by itself 15-30 minutes later! At least we had control over the temperature. The bathroom door is a double door with no lock. The gap between the two doors is over half an inch wide, so you can see inside and any odors from number two spread into the room. We had to buy Febreze right away to alleviate this. Only one hook to hang towels in the bathroom, so we had to use coat hangers from the closet to hang towels for all three of us. The beds are far too narrow for couples, making sleep harder yet. They are however very comfy if sleeping solo. The office chair in our room next to the desk looked scratched out, with small patches of fabric falling off of it daily. Housekeeping comes once every three days. When they knocked on our door, we asked them for just 5 minutes as we were getting ready to head out, they didn't show that day (but they said they would). When we asked for housekeeping the next morning at the reception, they again didn't come to our room that day. We had to get a hold of the housekeepers in the hallway just to get our bins emptied and to get extra toilet paper. This means we got (limited) housekeeping for the first and only time on our 5th day there. The breakfast was disappointing in both quality and variety. Aside from okay-ish fruit and dry scrambled eggs, there were sausages that tasted revolting and everything else was just a bunch of sugar (cereal, waffles, and toast). I went to a nearby IHOP for omelettes instead. The plates are paper and the utensils are plastic, amplifying the cheap and low quality feeling of the breakfast experience. The poolside chairs and tables were dusty every time we came to sit there, indicating a lack of care for that area.
With all these factors, paying over $1000 for six nights felt like a huge rip-off, especially considering the clear low number of staff (infrequent housekeeping). I suppose the location bumps...

When we arrived, we asked for a rollaway bed and extra covers. We were told they didn’t have any covers and that there was “no one available to bring the rollaway bed to our room.” The next day, I asked again, and we eventually received the bed.
On night three, after deciding to extend our stay, we requested another rollaway bed. It was delivered and left folded until we were ready to set it up. When we opened it, we were shocked—it was clearly used, with loose crumbs, visible stains, and just completely unclean.
I called the front desk politely to request a clean replacement. What bothered me most wasn’t even the dirty bed—it was the response I received. There was no apology, no sense of urgency. I was told, “Uh yeah… can you call back in 20 minutes to see if the [unintelligible] can bring you a new one?” I repeated back to clarify, “So I need to call back in 20 minutes?” He simply said, “Yeah, call back in 20.”
At that point, it was 11 PM. I was ready for bed. My kids were already asleep, and now I had to stay up, waiting, just to get a clean bed that I didn’t soil in the first place.
Thirty minutes later, I called back. The same gentleman answered and said, “uh… mmm… uh yeah, well… \_\_ just got here, I’ll let them know.” Still no update, no apology, no assurance.
Then, a different gentleman called back—only to tell me they actually had no other beds available. After all that waiting, after being told to call back and stay up late, the end result was simply, we don’t have one.
And to make matters worse? I was told that if I wanted clean bedding, I could come get the bedding myself and change the sheets myself.
At this point I was beyond frustrated. This isn’t just about a rollaway bed—it’s about basic cleanliness and customer service. When you’re traveling with kids, late at night, and you’ve paid to stay somewhere, you expect a clean place to sleep and staff who at least acknowledge when something isn’t right.
It may not seem like a big deal to some, but the lack of care, the repeated waiting, the poor communication, and the indifference from the staff made this experience incredibly disappointing. A little effort and a simple, “I’m so sorry, we’ll fix that right away or find another solution for you,” would have gone a...
