The presentation of the food and ambience take this place above my expectations. We had a group of 7 to celebrate a birthday and the food was presented very well. I got a veggie omelette but wanted the fish and grits, however the fish was SWAI. Which is a good white fish, just not what I wanted. The volume of the music and the selection of the music was entertaining and enjoyable. Now…our server EDALI was not what I would have expected. She was off-putting, rude and not friendly. She did try to make light and sing along for the birthday—- too little, too late. At one point she said “WHAT ELSE DO YALL WANT?” I stopped her and asked if it was a problem for us to add FRUIT and FRENCH FRIES to our orders. She responded with, its not a problem but the additional items will not come out with the main courses—-pretty self explanatory considering we ordered these items AFTER placing our order. I did speak to who seemed to be a manager or owner, all I got was “sorry about that…” He didn’t seem to care or ask any additional details. He may have been frustrated bc we needed to pay our bills separately but they do not split checks. For your information: 1. No split checks 2. Automatic 20% gratuity for bills over $100 or parties of 4 or more 3. $5 per person deposit for parties over 5, if you make a reservation 4. No alcohol not even mimosas 5. Not a lot of seating and their tables are small—they put 2 square and 1 round table together for us, 7. I wanted a to go order but after the bother we seemed to be, I chose to go elsewhere and get a to go. I did say I will go back with a smaller group, just to see. San Antonio lacks in the area of diverse food, especially places that play majority R&B/Rap, so I do want to patronize, but will not be served by EDALI again.

We had the absolute pleasure of dining at Flavor Rich Restaurant on Saturday, August 9th for a birthday celebration with a party of 11—and let me tell you, it was unforgettable. From the moment we walked through the door, the vibe was soulful, warm, and inviting. It felt less like entering a restaurant and more like being welcomed into someone’s home for a lovingly prepared meal. Our table attendant, Edali, was nothing short of FABULOUS! She handled our large group with such grace—patient, attentive, professional, and radiating positivity. Her beautiful attitude truly elevated our experience, and we felt cared for every step of the way. The food? Beyond amazing. Every dish was a masterpiece, from presentation to flavor. And just when we thought the afternoon couldn’t get any better, the chef herself came out to greet us. That personal touch meant so much—it was a chance to express our gratitude for the culinary magic she created. And here’s a fun detail that speaks volumes about the care this team puts into every corner of the experience: one of my family members went to the women’s restroom and was so impressed by the hand scrub that she immediately called the restaurant after we left to ask what it was. The staff graciously tracked down the product—Brooklyn Sky Collection hand scrubs—and shared the information without hesitation. That kind of thoughtful service is rare and deeply appreciated. Flavor Rich is more than a restaurant—it’s a celebration of hospitality, soul, and flavor. If you’re looking for a place that feeds your spirit as much as your appetite, do yourself a favor and GO. Support this gem and enjoy a little bit of heaven. You won’t regret it!

Flavor, vibes, and service on point; kid friendly and accessible too! I first heard about Flavor Rich through word of mouth and kept hearing how it’s usually packed, so I decided to beat the rush and check it out earlier in the day. Let me just say it did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was on point. We were greeted with warm smiles, and the vibe of the place immediately set the tone. The ambience is modern yet soulful, with dope music and wall art that really gives it personality and culture. It’s the kind of spot where you can relax, enjoy yourself, and still feel like you’re somewhere special. Now, let’s talk about the food because that’s where Flavor Rich really shines. Everything we tried was top-tier. The crab cake was seasoned perfectly with that balance of crisp outside and tender inside. The truffle steak and eggs were out of this world rich, flavorful, and cooked just right. And even something as simple as the French toast hit the mark; fluffy, golden, and delicious. You can tell they put care and creativity into every dish. What’s also worth mentioning is how kid friendly the restaurant is and that it’s wheelchair accessible with a ramp, which makes it a welcoming space for everyone. If I had to point out one downside, it’s that the restaurant is all the way across town from me. I’d love to see them branch out closer to Schertz because I could definitely see myself coming here often. Overall, this place is a gem. Amazing service, great vibe, and food that truly lives up to the name Flavor Rich. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu. Highly recommended.

Me, reading the website before I even arrive:

"One Check Per Table: To keep service smooth and efficient, we kindly ask that you plan for a single check per table."

Bummer, but okay, we (the patrons) can work that out privately.

"Gratuity for Larger Parties: A 20% gratuity will be added to parties of four or more and to checks over $100. We appreciate your support of our team!"

Parties of 4? Are you serious? Tables of at least 6 is industry standard because that's beyond the standard sized family. And I've never heard of forced gratuity based on total instead of party size. Weird.

"Enjoy Our Menu as Intended: Our dishes are carefully crafted, and we encourage you to experience them as they are meant to be served no modifications, please."

Even Gordon Ramsey restaurants permit (small) modifications on their dishes. Pretentious much? Guess nobody who has a food allergy should ever go here.

"All Sales Are Final: While we can't offer returns due to personal preference, if there's ever a mistake in preparation, we'll happily make it right."

Considering what I've read so far, this is no big deal.

"Time Limit During Busy Hours: When we have guests on the waitlist, we kindly ask that you limit your dining experience to one hour so we can accommodate everyone."

One hour? One. Freaking. Hour. Absolutely not. I don't want to stick around for 3 hours, but I'll not be rushed out in an hour either. And I'm a fast eater, but you're out of your mind if you think one hour is reasonable.

The rules of this restaurant kill any desire to try them. I'm not even opposed to most of these rules, only their limits. Parties of 6, forced gratuity is acceptable. Limit dining time to 1.5 (or 2) hours, not one singular hour. This place needs to get a grip, this isn't...

The fact that this place has an almost 5 star rating is shady. Lot of good advertising videos on Instagram but the in person experience is less that sub par. First off you can’t modify any items you choose or ask to get a refund for poor or bad tasting quality. You’re going to get an auto 20% gratuity on parties of 4 yes I said FOUR persons or more. Which means they can give you the most compassion lacking or non attentive waiter experience and still get their full tip. Well let me tell you we received that from our waitress. First off she took another parties order before us even though they had sat down after us. She rarely checked on us and used a lot of avoidance tactics. Got told right off the bat that many items were already out of stock. Which were ones that we were set on ordering. This was almost 3 hrs before close mind you. After we ordered we waited over an he to get our food and too our surprise instead of homestyle potato’s we received French fries, but was not notified that they were out of stock and would be receiving the alternate side item. My crab cake Benedict had a soggy cake and weird taste, with no sauce on top to compliment the flavors. This place was not worth the price or wait. Waitress handed me the check and said to pay when ready. Well if doesn’t take me but a minute to grab my debit card. I had to wait another 10 minutes for her to finally notice us standing waiting to be checked out. I understand if you just opened 7 weeks ago. But if you don’t have properly empathetically trained people or someone with experience to guide the team, this place won’t last long. Definitely need to be focused on efficiency and quality. The chicken and waffles were good...
