When you walk in this place, it feels almost like you are transported to Chicago, New York or some other big city, high end jazz club. This place has such an elegant feel to it, somewhere that San Antonio has been long overdue for. Getting here is pretty simple, parking is cheap during the week (or free at certain spots) and the bar is located underneath the bottling department food hall. we came on a tuesday, and the place was sold out, they seem to sell out a few days in advanced. (tickets are a good price for what you get) All the seats are good in the house, and the sound is great where ever you are at. We came to see the Toro Flores Quintet for some classical and latin jazz. We came hungry so we decided to get food. To start, the caprese salad had some interesting, and very enjoyable additions to a pretty standard salad. the butternut squash and cranberry sauce was an excellent addition. the presentation was very clean too. For entrees, I got the mushroom pasta, which is a creamy, umami leaning vegetarian dish, with a piece of sourdough on the side. **Warning, all mushroom dishes have soy in them (i believe they are marinated in soy sauce). The dish was fantastic, such a deep, savory flavor, and the sourdough tasted so fresh. My partner got the garden salad with grilled chicken and it was huge ! she really enjoyed the salad as well. The waitress was very knowledgeable on the dishes, and was able to help me know about which one had soy or not (they are allergen friendly). So the food was great ! (not many people were eating to my surprise). As for the show itsself, WOW they blew us away ! such a wide variety of songs, and the group was just having so much fun up there. they were interactive, and very friendly with the crowd. they played some slow beautiful songs, upbeat songs that made me want to dance, and did a good amount of free styling, their chemistry was great. the show lasted a quarter under 2 hours and when it was over, the place emptied out. I was very impressed with this place overall. A great spot for a date, with family, friends or even alone ! great food, great music and they have a wide...
Read moreThere has been a lot of changes over the years. This used to be the best jazz bar in town, a great place to sit down (despite the uncomfortable chairs) and spend hours watching different bands (there used to be three in a night). After Covid, it changed from a bar with several shows, some paid and some not, to a concert venue. Every night there is one or two shows, for which you pay in advance to reserve a seat. As the situation changed, the place is now open for a very short period of time, you watch the show and done. You can no longer linger around, enjoy the night, with food or drinks. Kitchen closes before the show is even done, and you get a warning after a little over one hour you have been sitting that the kitchen will close. "Last call", frequently around 8:30 PM (show starts at 7:30 PM). I fully understand, things have changed, it is no longer a true bar or restaurant, it is a concert venue, a place to watch a show and leave. Not my favorite, but I am sure they have their reasons. My problem is, now that you pay for the seat, including online fees, it should be your seat for the duration of the show. Last time I got delayed at work, and as I am driving, I get a phone call to notify me that my pre-paid seat was being given to someone else. So they sold it twice, collected the money twice. So I could not go despite paying for it several days in advance. And there are no refunds. The following day I got an email thanking me for going! Now, if it is a bar or restaurant and you are late for your reservation, that is fine. However, as you made the transition to a concert venue, a pre-paid seat assignment should be yours for the duration of the show. Being sold twice is wrong in my opinion. You should not get the best of both worlds.
In jumps Selena Lopez, the great manager that has been with Jazz TX for years. She read the review, contacted me, fixed the problem. Exceptional managing skills. The chairs remain uncomfortable (LOL), but as long as she is the manager, I will...
Read more(UPDATE ON 11/01/2022) 4th time visiting here and the service was the least satisfied. I ordered a burger and it was too salty. I drank water because I had to drive and more than twice my cup was completely empty and nobody cared. Staff were too busy to look at their phone or talk to each other. I was the only customer at the bar tonight and there were not that many customers tonight. The music was great. The Daniel Dufour Quintet & Marcos Valera did a great job. I was very pleased as always with music but not with the service tonight.
(UPDATE ON 10/27/2022) This was my third time visiting Jazz, TX and tonight's show was my most favorite one so far. It was 'A tribute to the music of Dave Brubeck' by The Jazz Protagonists.
They changed the drink menu. I tried hibiscus sprit and wasn't big fan of it. I didn't have food so don't know if they changed also. Service was so so tonight but because of the great show, I will leave 5 stars.

I went to see The Toro Flores Quintet yesterday (10/18/2022) and it was great. I went alone so I had to sit at the bar which wasn't bad. It was $15 but including tax and service fee made it close to $20.
I tried their brisket mini tacos and it was good and price was reasonable. Since I had to drive I didn't order any drinks but staff at the bar were filling up my water cup so many times. I appreciate their excellent service. (Made my star goes up to 5 from 4!)
The performance was quite unique and I ended up buying one of 3 CDs from The Toro Flores Quintet and I love it!
###################################### I was here in May 2022. The Adrian Ruiz Quintet played that night. Most of players are professors in various colleges in Texas. I didn't record lots of plays of them this time. Drinks were great. Hope they put less ice though. took 1 star out for too much ice in my second drink.
I believe that tickets were less than $25 per...
