Jan. 2023: I received a Chinese New Year email from @mingsthing with an $8 off coupon for Chinese New Year weekend. We headed there for lunch.
Dad had the Lemon Berry Acai soda, my husband had the Ginger beer and Thai tea and I had My Bloody Valentine. We had several of the baos - Pork Belly, Bulgogi and BBQ. Unfortunately, the pork belly was like jerky so we traded the other one for another Bulgogi buns. Had a couple of the noodle dishes - Summer and sweet potato. Had the mushroom dumplings and the Clam Soup. Pauline helped us but they were very busy.
If you haven't stopped by, please check them out.
May 2022: We were encouraged by the AAPI Heritage Month passport to check out participating restaurants. My husband and I have been to @mingsthing a couple of times before and thought to bring Dad to experience it.
Happy hour is from 4pm to 7pm and drinks were 20% off then add the AAPI discount of 10%! I had My Bloody Valentine and my husband had the Sake Mule and Neon City Hong Kong Pale Ale.
Just the buns alone were filling. Dad had the Summer Noodle Bun which had a spicy kick and a piece of the pork belly. I ate the other half of Smoked Pork Belly Bun and the Bulgogi Bun with less heat. My husband had the Hot Chicken Bun and each order came with 2 buns. I had a bite of his and it had a great crunch. Dad and I then shared the Cilantro Lime Soy Noodle. My husband had the Ma-La Sweet Potato Noodle with grilled shrimp. We finished the meal by sharing the Taro Coconut Frozen Souffle dessert. From start to finish, everything was deliciously perfect.
The only thing we had missing was our propeller fan with us to swat off the multitude of flies outside.
It was great to see many other people eating there today. Definitely worth checking out and getting your...
Read moreColeslaw, so much coleslaw. It's like typical fish food coleslaw w a bit of ginger, and a lot of it. Small amount of mediocre rice, w a few pieces of beef and broccoli. I kept, looking for a piece of John'longs fish to go with the slaw😏 Felt like one of those trendy new places from Cali. That people, that haven't had good food in a while, go to. To get trendy stuff for more then it's worth and tip for almost self serve. You get told, stand at counter here w menu, then move over to register (2 ft over) to order pay and tip, then just go sit somewhere. Seemed very much like fastfood, not sit down traditional or upscaled fine Asian food restaurant. The food comes out 10+ minutes apart, when ordered together on same ticket. You have to ask for traditional condiments, basically individual packets. When or if you do ask, you have to request 2, like your breaking the rules 🤷🏼♂️ Felt like a hippy Cali fusion food feel, in a small cheap fastfood dinning room. Chicken bowl was weird with Crispy fried Chicken(like American fried chicken). Don't expect your everyday Asian or Chinese kitchen here. We've definitely had better typical Asian comfort food, waitressing, then what ever this was. Restroom sink, it shots water straight out center. They need a new aerator. We kinda left, feeling like Google**/search, let us down on typical Asian food tonight 🤷🏼♂️ but maybe it was us, expecting something this was not meant to be, on a bad day So, I didn't one star it. However, there's plenty of room for improvement. And it should probably be listed as modified or fusion not (traditional*) comfort. Upon further looking, it's listed as both traditional comfort Asian food and also fusion depending on what links pop up for...
Read more10 STARS! I had an amazing experience at this location! From the moment I called in late to place my order, I was greeted with such warmth and kindness. The lady on the phone, Jennifer B. (I believe that’s her name from my receipt), was incredibly reassuring and made me feel completely comfortable about my late request. She was so sweet.
When my husband arrived to pick up the order, he was also greeted with the same kindness by the entire team, including the gentleman preparing our food. It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality these days, and it made a lasting impression.
Despite the long drive home, everything we ordered still tasted fresh! The tofu buns were delicious, as always. My husband couldn’t stop raving about his bulgogi, pork belly, and the coconut shrimp special of the month bao buns; each one was a hit. The bao buns here are so soft and pillowy, and they have some very unique options available. We also always tend to order a few extra to have for lunch or dinner the following day. We also tried the summer noodle, which is incredibly refreshing. I appreciate that Ming's has several vegan and vegetarian options available, and I hope to also try their soups and appetizers next time. The desserts look amazing, too!
This place has quickly become my favorite for both service and food quality. My only wish is for a location closer to Schertz, as I would love to visit more often :)! And a rewards program would be a great addition, too!
Thank you so much for your delicious creations, along with your incredibly kind service! We will...
