Paris is Always a Good Idea. Just stepping inside this place makes you feel happy- there are gorgeous cafe style tables and chairs set against crisp, white walls, lush greenery, and sparkling chandeliers. In spite of the stickiness of dessert crepes, the place is always clean, beautiful, and relaxing. It's a mini vacation and even when I walk in wearing sweats and whatever goo my toddler has wiped onto me, I feel like I'm back in Europe just breathing in beauty and history and love.
But this place it's more than just a pretty face. Step up to the counter and be warmly greeted by a staff that goes out of their way to make your experience wonderful. I once was even offered a free coffee because I mentioned I hadn't slept much. The food is brought out quickly and is always perfectly prepared. You really could not ask for better service.
And the food, oh the food. Even if this place looked like a dump it would be worth going for the food. It's hard to find well made crepes and they nail it. The wide selection from hearty to sweet, makes it the perfect place for breakfast, lunch, and that evening dessert. They aren't a one trick pony either, and have soups, salads, waffles, etc. But honestly, eat the crepes. You can't go wrong with the Carbonara or Lemon crepe (two of my favorites).
The coffee and rich hot chocolate options also make it a way better option than your local Starbucks. Hell, I'm tempted to camp out here to grade papers and write. More importantly, my toddler loves it here and will definitely munch on my crepes (if you have a picky eater, though, they have a decent kids menu). And even if this place feels just a tad bit fancy for kids, it's relaxed enough that they can practice their dining skills without causing a fuss.
What can I say... this is a place to fall in love with. After all, who doesn't want to...
Read moreOur family’s recent outing to Sweet Paris was a mixed bag of delightful and underwhelming experiences. The highlight for my daughter was undoubtedly the Nutella crepe, brimming with strawberries and bananas – a sweet treat she can’t get enough of. My own choice, the chicken enchilada savory crepe paired with a café americano, unfortunately, fell short of expectations. The dish, laden with beans and topped with salsa, lacked the authentic enchilada sauce flavor I anticipated, resembling more of a chicken salsa crepe. It’s safe to say, it won’t be making a reappearance on my order list.
On the other hand, my wife’s chicken carbonara crepe received a warmer reception. While she enjoyed the crepe itself, she noted that it strayed from the traditional chicken carbonara profile. A unanimous hit was the Nutella hot chocolate – both my wife and daughter found it utterly scrumptious. As for my café americano, it was satisfactorily good.
The café’s ambiance, however, could benefit from some refinement. The process of receiving and customizing your coffee – navigating a bustling space with a full cup in hand to add cream or sweetener – detracted from the overall experience. Moreover, the interior, though charming, could use a decor update and some sound-dampening elements to mitigate the surprisingly high noise levels, even with a modest crowd of around ten patrons.
Sweet Paris certainly excels with its sweet crepes and delectable chocolate offerings, suggesting that a slight tweak to the savory selections could elevate the menu. Despite these critiques, the visit was enjoyable, and the prospect of returning remains appealing, thanks in part to the excellent service and the cashier’s helpful demeanor. Overall, Sweet Paris shines in its sweet offerings and has the potential to perfect its savory dishes with minor...
Read moreMaybe I ordered the wrong menu item; Le Mexicain breakfast crepe... it was not good at all. The beans and tomato sauce tasted like they're poured directly out of a can you get at a grocery store. The beef was definitely reheated (who knows how many days old it was). The Queso Fresco sprinkled all over had a sort of metal taste... not sure how or why. The eggs definitely reminded me of the kind that is made in very large quantities to feed large groups of people in a short period of time - powder eggs, if you don't know what I mean. Yeah, like the kind served while military units are out in the field either training or performing their respective duties. The avocado must have been sliced the previous day (brown all over). The crepe itself was made to order, so that was good.
Overall, the dish did not taste freshly made at all.
On the bright side, the staff is very nice, very patient, and eager to describe the entire menu and help you decide if you're not quite ready to order by the time you arrive at the register. btw, the group in front of me - three people - needed a good 10 minutes for all of them to figure out their lives in front of the register. I commend the young lady who endured those 10 minutes of her life she will never get back. I tipped her a bit extra because I suffered by just watching the whole thing... I can't imagine what she was thinking and feeling at that moment. But I'm willing to bet she wished her eyeballs would be scraped out with a rusty spoon.
Oh, and it's very pretty inside - good place for your Instagram photos if you're into that...
