They have gone down hill. I used to love this place. They had great nail techs, but now they are not worth $79 per visit, not including tip.
To begin, I had a pedicure and manicure done. I wanted strictly regular nail polish on my nails but the nail tech kept insisting that I should get gel. I had to say no about 10 times. I understand they are trying to sell more services, but after a few times she should have stopped. At this point I felt annoyed but I blew it off. Not to mention she looked unhappy that I did not want what she wanted to give me. I left her pedicure station to get a manicure. On my way there I noticed that one of my big toes was half shiny and the other matte. I asked the new manicure nail tech check and she said they were fine. I blew it off because I didnāt want to be rude. The second nail tech was extremely sweet but not very attentive. She was laughing and talking to her peers, which is fine with me (at first). The moment it because a problem was when she said she was done and I noticed that there was gel nail polish all over my skin on the sides, the top by my cuticle was not round, there were clumps on the sides, there was random holes that she left unpainted. It looked like I did my own nails. I asked the front guy to please fix them and she came right back and did. She listened to everything I asked her for. Unfortunately, when she was done once again, it was just ābetterā. At this point I was frustrated because I, myself, could have done a better job. Itās simple gel, itās not something you can really mess up.
On top of that my two friends that I invited (Iām embarrassed that I even recommended this place in the first place) paid WAY more then expected and had even bigger problems with their nail techs.
For example one of them did extra services that were not asked for and of course was charged for. You canāt just do that. Another one asked for dip nails, they were so thick that when she asked her nail tech to please make them thinner, she said she couldnāt. They were really thick and badā¦. She left crying.
The point is, this place has gone DOWN HILL. Iām sorry but I canāt recommend. I lost $79 plus tip, that I could have avoided. (Which is a reasonable amount but not when you canāt do a good job) And $150 for my friend to go to another place and get them removed. (they told her that they were very poorly done).
Iāll take my services back to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI got my very first full set of acrylic nails in MD two weeks ago and needed a fill. Iāve pretty much transformed into a new superwoman with these claws and was excited to get them cleaned up. And by superwoman I mean someone who slows down to do things because sheās nearly crippled by these ridiculously long (for me) nails. Someone who grabs a pair of pliers or other tool instead of trying to muscle everything into place. Iām not an āI š the salonā kind of girl. I really donāt enjoy the process at all, I have severe ADHD that seems to get worse as I get older; sitting still and being cared for is hard for me. I know, therapy, Iām working on it.
Iām in Helotes and always forget how close La Cantera is, and when Anthony Vince came up in my search I booked a last minute appointment and was on my was headed down Scenic Loop. On the way a random San Antonio number calls; the young lady tells me she canāt accomodate a 5:30 appointment but can surely have someone take me at 6:30, will that work? Hmmmmm, an extra hour completely to myself? Bet. See you at 6:30. I wander La Cantera, get turned around, get in a little walk, and arrive almost late and sweaty though I parked right out front.
Yeah, itās a beautiful place but what matters to me is how Iām treated, and I felt cared for from the moment I walked in. Not fake, āHereās your champagne and robe for the Instaā care, or stupid scripted greeting, but just genuine Iām a human, youāre a human kind of care. For the record, there was champagne or some sort of bubbly and many other options if I was so inclined. I just needed water.
Johnny handled my fill quickly and with the precision of any other fine craftsman. I felt like he was putting the finishing touches on finely crafted sculpture or polishing the gold heās poured in the cracks in a regular old price of pottery.
Make the appointment, get your nails done. Pedi too, ask for Johnny. Also, goodness when did I get my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently visited this salon, hoping for a relaxing experience, but it turned into a birthday disaster. My nails ended up clumpy, uneven, and oddly egg-shaped, looking nothing like the polished, professional look I expected. When I politely brought this up, the manager dismissively blamed my āfat fingersā for the poor resultsāa completely unprofessional and offensive response to a paying customer.
The nail tech working on me mentioned it was her first day, so I tried to be understanding and patient. However, that doesnāt excuse the managementās lack of accountability. Instead of guiding the new tech, they left her to figure things out on her own, leaving me with a terrible outcome.
Beyond the poor service, thereās a bigger issue here: the uncomfortable atmosphere created by the manager and other staff members. When I was younger, around 17, I often felt uncomfortable due to inappropriate, flirtatious comments from the staff. This behavior still seems to be an issue, especially toward younger clients without parental accompaniment. Itās extremely concerning and unacceptable, especially for a business that welcomes the public.
I only returned due to the convenience of the location and a last-minute decision to treat myself on my birthday, but I left feeling disrespected and deeply disappointed. I genuinely hope someone more professional and deserving takes over this place, creating a safe and welcoming environment for all clients.
Itās for just a med/short acrylic tip with gel and pedicure- no design- just a basic common procedure.
Donāt even get me started on how racist they were towards my Mexican non English...
