This is a PHEONOMENAL coaster! This is easily one of the best roller coasters I've ever ridden. Like a lot of the rides in the park, the setting is awesome as it uses the quarry wall to it's advantage. The first drop off of the quarry wall is absolutely insane as you are getting wicked airtime and laterals as you are diving off the wall, and it's a big drop too. The bottom of the drop has good positive g forces. The step up back onto the wall has a great ejector pop no matter where you sit on the train. The overbank gives a little airtime, and the dive back off the wall is very cool. Then you flow so perfectly into a wonderful zero g roll. It is just a perfectly executed element that is very satisfying. The sequence on top of the wall is much slower, but the elements are all very fun! You have a great airtime hill followed by an overbank and an outerbank that offer some weird lateral hangtime. The highlight of the ride is the final cliff dive off the wall. It is one of the strongest moments of airtime on any coaster, and it lasts forever! The tunnel at the end is very cool too, and you fly into the breaks with so much speed! The coaster is buttery smooth, and the trains are very comfortable and open. Make sure you sit in the back row for the best experience and leave the restraint a little above your lap so you can get all of that airtime. This is for sure the best ride in the park, and the best roller coaster in all of Texas! It is a must ride during your visit!

Iron Rattler is an absolute masterpiece in the world of roller coasters. From the moment you approach this towering steel giant, you know you're in for a wild ride through the rugged terrain of the Wild West. The attention to detail in the ride's design is nothing short of extraordinary. The sleek steel track, combined with the rustic wooden supports, creates an atmosphere of exhilarating contrast. The innovative elements, including inversions and steep drops, promise a heart-pounding adventure. The ride itself is a perfect blend of thrills and excitement. The smooth transitions and unexpected twists keep even the most seasoned riders on their toes. The sensation of speed and airtime is nothing short of electrifying. The views of the surrounding landscape, especially as you plummet down the quarry walls, are breathtaking. It's a unique and thrilling perspective of the natural beauty of the area. The staff managing the attraction are not only efficient but also contribute to the overall excitement of the experience. Their commitment to safety and guest satisfaction is evident in every interaction. For adrenaline junkies and fans of intense roller coasters, Iron Rattler is an absolute must-ride. It's a journey that delivers on every level, offering a wild ride through the untamed frontier. I can't recommend it highly enough - a solid 5-star rating for this exhilarating coaster!

So, I rode the Rattler back in the day after it was revised and a couple of times after as the years went on. I was at the park the other day for the Fright Fest, and the park was open late. One person in my group insisted on riding, and we went because it's a coaster park. BUT I had no idea what I was in for with this newer Rattler... We rode it in the fking dark! I had no idea I was going upside down until we were feet away. My brain was like, is that a twist?? Or a mirage?? And we spun. The arches I kept having intrusive thoughts the cart was going to detach, but it didn't. This ride was pretty intense. But I enjoyed it. Even the 17 ft drop from up on the canyon, that they remind you of right as you roll out and then break the ride on you and dangle you alittle before you storm away. I don't remember doing anything like that back in 2010 on any of the rides, so it was surprising.

Where to begin? I rode rattler way back in the mid ninties, and I hated it. I love Woodies and had ridden several at that time, this quickly and solidly earned it's position as my least favorite. It was rough, the transitions were choppy and it just hurt.

After having ridden New Texas Giant, I had to revisit this old monster to experience what Shilke had created and holy $#!+ It was amazing.

From that freaky twisted first drop Jose dive at the quarry floor to the beautiful Overbank into that amazing zero g roll and the wave turns into my favorite element, the ejector dive off the cliff wall into the tunnel this ride is nothing but fun and intense. It's not for acrophobes or smaller riders, and it's not for people with heart conditions or lower extremity malfunctions. The rapid transitions and moments where the train is yanked out from under you are super intense, and not for under...
