My friend recommended I try out this place Korean fried chicken. I’m a big fan of Korean fried chicken and I used to live in Korea. While looking this place up, they originated in Korea and they are a large international franchise. This location and area / shopping plaza has a lot of other restaurants that close early. We came here on a Wednesday night where online they say they close at 9pm. We arrived at about 8:15pm and they said that we can only order take out and couldn’t dine in. It takes about 15-20 minutes for the chicken to fry I guess but it looked like they were already cleaning up. I’m a fan of soy garlic and wanted to try their original wings. We also ordered fries and onion rings. Along with their rose tteok bokki. Everything was crispy but had a spicy taste to it. Even the fries and onion rings. The rose tteok bokki was really good and thick too. They don’t have alcohol yet so no soju or beer and we got a can of sprite and coke. The radishes tasted pretty fresh and we had enough togo containers to eat from. Overall I think the wings are not bad and I can’t wait to try other flavors...
Read moreBb.q. Chicken is located closer to the Mollie Stones area of Bayhill Shopping Center. Loved that parking was easy. Something smelled a bit rancid in the restaurant, I later thought after smelling the food I got, the strong smell I was probably smelling was the pickled daikon I didn’t realize was part of all the meals. Got the honey garlic wings and the crunch was good, but it somehow needed a bit more flavor. Maybe extra sauce on the side to dip my wings in would have been the trick? Would have also loved to see cold beer offered as a an option for beverages at the restaurant to give it the whole K-fried chicken experience, but hey you can take it to-go and drink your beer at home while also enjoying your K-fried chicken, YUM. Register staff were nice, but the amount of time it took to wait for my order of 8 wings was about 45 minutes, but I guess that’s how you know for sure it was freshly fried and it’s in-demand. So I would say if you want to eat immediately this would probably not be the best option, if you are able to wait I think you’re in for a...
Read moreHusband is a Korean fried chicken connoisseur and has been to probably every B.b.q. chicken place in Peninsula and South Bay, as well as most Vons, and several independent places.
B.b.q ranks near top for him, so pretty excited that this place opened up. We tried it for the first time today.
Lunch fried chicken special with Secret Sauce is excellent. Maybe needs 25% more sauce - usually sauce coverage is 100% at other locations - but perfect flavor. Fries are double fried and crisp and perfectly salted, even for takeout that went for a 15 min drive.
Rosé Ddeok-Bokki was also fantastic. Smooth sauce with a mix of sweet, savory, spicy tomato sauce. Perfectly squidgy bokki.
Husband quote: "this is an excellent day. The distance to quality chicken has reduced from 32 miles to 3." 😂
Edit: one update/PSA - PLEASE please do yourself a favor and get the boneless chicken. They are using high quality meat, both dark and light (even light is tender). You also get more...
