IHOP — Restaurant in San Clemente

Diner was clean and not full when I arrived. Was quickly sat down within 5 min of arrival. Food was good but the only thing that disappointed me was the customer service. Not sure if the lady working that night just started, but she did not know what a milkshake was. She came back with her manager to ask what I ordered. After her manager explained it to her, she started making it, and for the first time innvisiting IHOPS, I did not receive the extra shake that I've always received in a metal cup at all IHOPS. I asked the manager what happened with the extra shake they always give, and he stated that they only give out the extra shake if they've made too much. What he did not know is that I saw the waitress dump out the extra in the sink after she made it but I did not want to make a big fuss over it. I just thought I'd throw that out there as it was a first for me. Diner also didn't have some of the ingredients needed to make one of the dishes I wanted to order. Don't think I'll be coming back...

The food was cold. The mgr at cashier counter couldn't give me my $4.61 change. So he says he's going to my waitress. My waitress comes and says she will bring me back $4 in change. I thought $4 what happened to my 61 cents. So I thought it must be a mistake and she was just simplifying. But when she returned she only brought $4. And thought it was perfectly okay to keep my 61 Cent change. I am new to California. And I don't know if this the custom here for people to keep your change as in coins. But where I came from people gave you your full change back. I find this very crooked business practices. This was at the location on Oceanside Boulevard near the I-5 just to clarify. And it's a general for IHOP if you're going to have a special it should last more than just 3 days. That was really ridiculous to have a special one day and two days later it's gone. I've been to this location often and usually i am very pleased, however the last few times that I've been in service has been terrible. There has either been hair on the cups or on the plates of food. Previous to the last time I came in, I had to send my food back 3 times for it to be done correctly and by the time I received my food correctly my partners food was ice-cold. This last time we came in we were seated quickly but then proceed to sit there for 20 minutes before anyone came to greet us and get us drinks. I watched as all the staff were standing at the server station/pass bar and goofed off with eachother while not receiving any type of acknowledgement that we had been sat.
