I agree with Mr Hernandez in saying that this isn't real Thai food. We always eat at Eddie V's & decided to try this Thai place last night. The aroma pulled us inside. We ordered the calamari and drunken noodles. I'd wanted Pad Thai with a chicken and shrimp combination but the waitress said they wouldn't do it with chicken and shrimp as my request. Grade F for failing to accommodate the customers palate while trying to force feed your self made rule to govern my palate. At this early point I'd already made up my mind to eat elsewhere which was the incredible Sushi 🍣 location right down the street (Shiku). I wanted to at least try food from this supposed Thai restaurant and got it to go. We asked for an extra plum sauce and was told they couldn't give extra. Really? Was it because of my tan? Moving forward, the calamari was greasy and very rubbery. The flavor was off and seemed as if it was cooked in oil that chitterlings were cooked in. My friends from Georgia cook lots of chitterlings at their Asian restaurant and we sample what they like for us to try which is why I'm familiar with that hideous flavor. The drunken noodles were ordered at a number 4 spice level and that was pretty much the dominant flavor - hot pepper. The food is a couple of notches less than what you would find in a mall food court. The tastiest thing was the plum sauce which was fair. All in all, I'm happy we tried so we can know what the food tastes like and won't be fooled again when going into Eddie Vs or walking down the street in La Jolla again. A great and delicious spot is Shiku sushi which has a wide variety, excellent service and everything is flavorful. Your requests are accomodated. Going back for their unagi eel, spider roll, Lobster rolls today. The Thai experience was a complete fraud. F for failure but thank God...
Read moreThe food was amazing! Delicous and sime dishes could be spiced 1 through 10! We had a group of 10 and I appreciated that they accommodated our group size. Perhaps they were short staffed, the service was extremely slow. It took at least 10 mins before we were provided water, another 20 to 25 before our orders were taken and at least 30 mins for food. Unfortunately one of our party members order was delayed another 10 to 15 mins after we all recieved ours. We were very rarely attended to, our water was only refilled once. At the end, the desserts came out, but one was missing and that too another 10 mins to recieve. Overall our experience was about 2 hours. There was no water for hand washing which was disappointing because we just came from the beach so hand sanitizer was all we could use. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, however the wait made our group very anxious and curious if we made the right choice. Overall, I enjoyed the food, but im not sure our group agreed on...
Read moreOrdered Pineapple Fried Rice and Tom Yum Soup, very satisfied with my meal. The pineapple fried rice achieved a great balance of sweet, sour, and umami. Nice, big chunks of fresh pineapple and whole cashews. The rice is beautifully done, full of flavor, and not over or under cooked. I can smell the nice wok hay with every bite. I choose pork as my protein and it's also very tender and marinated with flavor. I asked for no peas on the ticket and they noticed and didn't give me any peas, which is really great. The Tom Yum Soup is packed with authentic Thai herbs. If you don't like strong Thai flavor, skip it; but if you are like me, you have to try it. It's also pretty sour and strong. Shrimp tastes pretty fresh. I ordered Spicy Level 6 and it was good for me, but pretty hot for the average people. Just one little side note, they used the wrong mushroom type...
