Bianchi Pizza & Pasta — Restaurant in San Diego

We were excited to try the new pizza and pasta spot at the Bahia on our most recent visit. We started with the bruschetta which was light, fresh and full of great flavor. Next we shared the Caesar salad which was good, however the parmesan shavings were a little heavy compared to the dish. The salad is larger enough to share with another person as a starter or side to a pizza. We shared the Bianchi pizza which was a perfect Napolitano style pizza and had a great fennel sausage with mushrooms. The prosciutto was a nice treat on top but dried out in the firing of the pizza... but was still tasty as a side snack. Honestly the only item I was not fond of was the tiramisu which we ordered to go and took back to our room to watch the sunset over the water. It was huge (enough for 4 people) but the cake portion was a bit dry and crumbling as we ate. Overall we will be back but maybe skip the dessert or try something else. Our server was very attentive as well as the manager who checked in with us on our way out. Wouldn’t return. The waitress, Sarah, was kind but not knowledgeable about the food, just smiles and nods, really. The sauce was broken on my pasta dish and it was SPICY (It could have been the extra red pepper flakes in the sausage but it was just a little too spicy for me). The flatbread/olive oil pizza (app) was ok, crispy on top but the crust was slightly underdone. When I arrived there were plenty of tables and they sat me at the 1 table with a dog bowl on the concrete seat. A little rude and gross? Or maybe that’s just me. I had a wonderful dinner today with a friend. We shared a fresh, crisp salad, a classic Bolognese pasta, and a rich chocolate cake with cherries for dessert—it had a lovely fudge-like texture. Everything was delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely.
