My family and I visited San Diego yesterday and stopped in Old Town for a bite to eat. Burgers were something we could all agree on and landed at Bonehead Burgers. We loved that it had open-air seating, not too crowded, and a simple menu. Menus with dozens of options can be overwhelming, and the offerings here were just right! Additionally, we had a picky 7-year-old in tow, so 🙏 they had chicken nuggets. Our group ordered chicken wings, french fries, a Kenny B burger, a kids' meal chicken nuggets with fries, and a Bonehead burger. It's always a gamble when trying a new place, so fingers crossed we waited. To our surprise, relief, and delight, the food was amazing! Plates came out quickly, the food looked fresh and well-cooked, and the portions were huge! My husband and I are always searching for tasty french fries. These were off the chart. The combination of size, shape, seasoning, crispy outer, and tender inside was a chef's kiss 🤤 They were that good. The Bonehead burger was a hand-crafted beauty. Fresh seasoned, smash-style burger, loaded with lettuce, tomato, pickle, cheddar cheese, maple bacon, onion, and something called Bonehead sauce. I couldn't shovel it in my mouth fast enough, lol. We discovered mid-way through our visit that the gentleman working there was a one-man show that day. Ernie was handling the orders, cash register, drinks, cooking the food, and serving solo! How he was able to pull that off is amazing. A few more parties showed up, and he handled it all like a pro without ever breaking a sweat. He remained attentive, professional, and friendly. 😊 Suffice to say, Bonehead Burgers will be added to our list of favorite burger joints, and Ernie is our go-to guy for great food! What a great experience. Thank you for feeding our family 🥰

Buckle up, everyone. It's story time. My mom and I flew into San Diego for a half marathon. After the race, we knew we would be craving a good burger and saw that Bonehead Burgers was close to our hotel and the burgers looked delicious. We walked on over. When our food arrived, it looked so amazing. My mom took a bite and uttered an "ohmygoshhowisyours" before I had a chance to try my own. (I was munching on a few of the cheesy tots - highly recommend.) I began eating my burger and found myself pausing to whisper "oh my gosh," "holy crap," or "wow" after every. single. bite. When I'd finished half of my burger, I told my mom that if one of the employees came to ask if the food was good, I might respond with "I love you." Sure enough, Kit, one of the owners, came over shortly after and we professed our love. He was so friendly and kind and made sure we were taken care of. We were ready to go shout their praises from the roof tops. This was one of the best burgers, if not THE best, either of us have ever had. We have seriously contemplated returning for every meal while we are in San Diego. 15/10 - would recommend with zero hesitation. I will long for Bonehead Burgers after I leave town.

Bonehead Burger is a laid-back burger joint with both indoor and outdoor seating. They are dog-friendly if you’re dining outside! They are tucked away on an upper deck in Old Town San Diego. I discovered this place through a Groupon deal that included two Bonehead Burgers, two beers or wines, and two sides of fries or tater tots, all for around $30. Talk about value! The Bonehead Burger itself completely exceeded my expectations — juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. It’s clear they take pride in what they’re serving. But what really shocked me were the massive portions of sides. These weren’t your average handful of fries. I’m talking full baskets, enough to satisfy even the hungriest eaters. If you’re craving a hearty burger, cold beer, and a chill spot to hang out I highly recommend checking out Bonehead Burger. I’ll definitely be back!

I did not eat here. My review is my experience picking up deliveries for them thru a 3rd party. I judge whether I would come back as a customer based on my experience with their customer service. I have picked up a handful of deliveries from this restaurant. I now avoid taking anymore deliveries from this restaurant because the treatment was so bad. I arrive at a predetermined time selected by the restaurant to pick up the order which should be packaged and ready to go upon my arrival. Each time I have come to pick up an order it is not ready. I'm not givin a time at which it would be ready I'm not giving any sort of any estimate. The lady that is at the I guess register who is also I guess the bartender and the waitress. She seems like she's pretty pissed off that she has to do all that work and she's not able to do it correctly. So she has a big chip on her shoulder. So when I arrive to pick up an order and it's not ready and I have to wait an additional 20 to 30 minutes, that cuts into the amount of money I make. So I make half as much as I would normally make when the restaurant does not prepare its food on time. Like I said the restaurant selects the time at which the order is picked up by the delivery driver. They can also change in the app if the food is late ,what time it will be ready, which they don't do. They just have you arrive and then stand around for 30 minutes. The last experience I had was the worst. This lady was so incredibly rude to me. I was already on edge that I had to wait an extra I think 15 to 20 minutes. I asked her for the food twice she said it was not ready. And then she seemed to go off and just avoid trying to look to see if my order was ready. when it was obviously ready. So I being very agitated ,I went over to where the pass is at the kitchen I could see my order sitting there all it needed was to be put into a bag and handed to me. It took this woman an additional 5 minutes to do that. And I could see that she was going extra slow on purpose because she thought that it was funny that I was agitated that I was having to wait so long. I cannot imagine being a customer standing there waiting for my to-go order an extra 15,20 ,30 minutes past the time I'm told to come pick it up , then being this rude to me. If I were a customer and that was my order I would have demanded my money back and I would have asked this woman why she was being so rude to me. Instead I took the order and delivered it and now they're on a list of restaurants I won't deliver for. There's also pretty much nowhere to park outside of this restaurant so if I were a customer it would be very difficult to find anywhere to park. On top of a horrible customer service experience, I don't want to take the extra effort that I might run into a rude person to where I would want to go try their food so I'm not going to go try their food ever, for any reason. I have no idea if the food is any good and I really don't care. The last thing that I want when I go out to eat is to have someone be so rude to me that I get so angry that literally my blood pressure is going up. It's just not worth it. If this woman hates her job so much that she has to treat people like that she shouldn't work as a cashier /...
