Five Stars -- Exceptional Service & Flavor That Surprised Me!

I walked into this Chinese restaurant expecting a cozy, family-run "mom and pop" spot--and honestly, it felt exactly like that from the moment I was greeted. The staff was incredibly warm and attentive, making me feel like a regular even though it was my first visit. The service was personal, quick, and thoughtful--something you don't always expect from a chain.

The surprise? This place is a chain in San Diego County. You wouldn't know it from the way they treat you or the quality of the food.

Everything I ordered tasted fresh and homemade-- especially the crispy, perfectly balanced orange chicken (not too sweet, not too sticky). The veggies in the stir fry were vibrant and crisp, and the fried rice had that unmistakable wok flavor you only get from chefs who care.

It's rare to find a chain that operates with the heart and consistency of a small family-owned place. This spot nails it. I'll definitely be back--and bringing friends.

Highly recommend if you're looking for authentic flavors and top-tier service...

i ordered a szechwan string beans meal with tofu from this restaurant and was instead served multiple medium-sized and small pieces of beef mixed into my food. i've been meat-free since 2009, so this was not only deeply upsetting ethically, but it also made me physically ill. after realizing what i had eaten, i vomited that same day, dealt with an upset stomach for several days, and lost my appetite for nearly a week.

when i contacted the restaurant, they admitted the mistake and promised both a venmo refund and a $100 gift certificate. almost three weeks later, i have received neither. i did decline the gift card, as this was my first and last time eating at this restraunt.

because of how serious this is, i filed formal complaints with both the better business bureau and the san diego county health department.

if you avoid meat for religious, spiritual, or personal reasons, please be extremely cautious when ordering from here. food safety and ingredient integrity matter, and this experience showed me how easily trust can be broken. what happened to me should not...

I've always enjoyed my meals at Chin's and their new location in Point Loma is no exception. After a day along the coast, the little one was getting hungry so we decided to head over to Chin's. Every dish we ordered was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The Tangerine Chicken was a standout — crispy, juicy, and coated in a perfectly balanced sweet and tangy sauce that wasn’t overly sticky or heavy. The Kung Pao Beef had just the right amount of spice, with tender beef that made every bite juicy and flavorful. We also tried the House Fried Rice, and it was full of fresh veggies, savory meats, and just the right smoky wok flavor. Finally, the double happinese was great for seafood lovers: shrimp, scallops, and squid all cooked just right, tossed in a light, savory sauce that brought out the natural flavors beautifully.

Every dish tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared, and the portions were generous without sacrificing quality. Chin's new spot is solid and perfect if you're wanting asian...

I was so glad when I heard that Chins opened up a location closer to me. My family and I came here for lunch and the food was great, as it always is when we visited the Chins in north county. It's in a convenient location with ample parking, the restaurant vibe has a casual atmosphere with nice decor, perfect for date night or hanging out with friends. You can taste the quality in the ingredients. We started off with my daughter's favorite soup which is the imperial soup. It was flavored perfectly, my husband who is not as fond of seafood, had 2 servings! We also had the salt and pepper wings which was lightly crisped with a surprising hint of ginger and served on a bed of crispy wonton skins. The tangerine chicken was my favorite, the chicken was still crispy underneath the tangerine sauce. The portions were huge, and all the dishes came out in a timely manner. The staff was really friendly and attentive. Chins is definitely the place to go to if you are looking for quality Chinese food in a causal setting.
