Located right between the 163 and 15 freeways off Clairemont Mesa Blvd, this place is a gem. A friend of mine had been to their sister restaurant Tahini next door and had wanted to try their coffee. It wasn’t too busy when we got there with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. When we got to the register we were greeted by a friendly lady who answered our questions easily and even gave us a sample of their nitro cold brew to try. I ended up with their Salted Pistachio Latte iced with almond milk, while my friend ordered their Arabic cold brew that comes with fresh mint, cardamom and a cinnamon stick. We also shared an avocado toast. Both drinks were on the savory side which was refreshing from the usual overly sweetened affair although you can opt for sweetener without issue. The toast was also lovely especially as it comes with a lemon slice to balance the arugula and radish flavors. Prices are reasonable, service was fast and friendly and the quality of the drinks/food matched, no complaints. Though I didn’t order it, they also serve traditional Turkish coffee using a beautiful metallic sand warming machine. I imagine they get a fair number of people who do not understand how to drink Turkish coffee. When the customer behind me ordered it, the lady who rang me up did a great job explaining how to drink it properly. It is those small moments of thoughtfulness and insight that I truly...
Read moreFinjan Coffee Shop might be the best coffee shop I've ever been to based on the cleanliness and decor of the coffee shop, the quality of the drip coffee, the overall menu offerings, and the friendly staff.
I came to Finjan about five times over two visits to San Diego in March and April, 2024. I stayed at the nearby Courtyard San Diego Central (which just completed a full renovation) so this coffee shop was nearby. Finjan is a Turkish coffee shop so some of the menu offerings are specific, which is great!
The drip coffee is on par with the best drip coffee I've ever had. My coworker ordered a pistachio latte that she said was exceptional. It tasted great and looked good with a simple garnish. I also tried the Turkish coffee which was also very good. I don't like Turkish coffee as much as drip or espresso, but it was one of the best Turkish coffees I've ever had and the presentation is unmatched by any other coffee shop I've been to. Finally, homemade baklawa and knafeh are offered and will not disappoint.
The location of Finjan is great if you are in Kearny Mesa, Convoy District, or driving along HWY 163 Cabrillo Freeway. The MTS 25, 235, and 928 busses have stops walking distance on Clairmont Mesa Blvd. The Spectrum Center office complex is to the south and the MCAS base is to the north. Finjan is in a great spot for a to go order...

If you're looking for a coffee spot that truly values quality, hospitality, and authenticity, look no further than Finjan! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm smiles and above-and-beyond service that makes you feel like family. The employees here don't just take your order--they craft an experience, ensuring that every sip is worth savoring.
One of the highlights of Finjan is their karak tea, rich, flavorful, and made with the kind of care you rarely find elsewhere. Unlike many coffee shops that rush orders for the sake of convenience, Finjan embraces the art of slow brewing. It reminds me of coffee culture in other countries, where to-go cups don't exist because coffee is meant to be enjoyed, not rushed. That same philosophy is reflected here, where every drink is made with intention and passion as well as offering to go cups of joy!
The ambiance is another standout feature. The cozy yet elegant space is decorated with beautiful calligraphy and authentic cultural elements, creating a peaceful, chill vibe that invites you to sit back and enjoy the moment. Whether you're here to catch up with friends, get some work done, or simply enjoy a perfect cup of coffee, Finjan is the ultimate destination.
A true 5-star experience, this place is a must visit for any coffee...
