House of Pizza — Restaurant in San Diego

I tend to ignore negative reviews and give places a chance. Unfortunately, I disagree with the good reviews and agree with the negative ones. Now I understand you can have a pleasant experience and think the pizza here is great if you're used to sub par customer service and mediocre pizza.

But in my opinion, and that's all it is, comparing this pizza to pizza I have had in San Francisco, New York, and other locations in San Diego, I can say this pizza is only okay at best. I was met by a man who was very short with me and grumpy sounding, which I expected based on the reviews. Even expecting this type of customer service though, I was taken aback. The pizza is not worth feeling like I was inconveniencing the owner or employee working.

So my warning is this, if you have to have pizza, and this is the most convenient location for you, be prepared for the potential for bad customer service and don't expect the pizza...

Best thin pizza ever. When i first had a thin crust pepperoni pizza from here it was in 2016 when i started dating my bf. We were starving and found this place after a long kayaking day. The cheese is melted like a perfect silky layer, the pepperoni so flavorful and the homemade sauce is also amazing! Crust reminds me of Italian wood stove baked pizzas.

I never go back to a random restaurant like this but after the first time it left a desire in my heart to try it again everytime in the area. Here we are 2021 and still as delicious and my bf and i enjoy it with our daughter now !!

Also i reccomend calling ahead cus sometimes 30 min wait since the owner doesn't have much help there. Also dining on the sidewalk is good since not on a busy sidewalk and reminds me...

Called in for One XL pizza this afternoon, since there is always a long wait, he said it would take 45 minutes. I said OK, gave him my order and my name then showed up 48 minutes later. I walk in and ask for my pizza--the old guy said he just gave it away to someone else. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? It's takes him almost an HOUR to make a pizza then he gives it to the WRONG person. He said it would take another 45 minutes if I wanted to order again. No Chance. I only go there sometimes because it is close by. It's average pizza but not worth the wait at all, there's a better pizza place down the street. It's really not worth counting on picking up any longer either I guess. The old guy is totally clueless and now careless. Do NOT waste your time. Just...
