Ordering coffee here felt like an episode of The Office. I stopped here while visiting California because I wanted to pick up a bag of coffee to bring home. Moniker had good reviews and the menu looked great. Honestly, the coffee itself is good; I ordered a seasonal latte, and I enjoyed it.
My issue was the service.
I ordered a drink. 16 oz. Iced. Oatmilk. Everything is fine. I go to the end of the bar. Iced drink, no lid. I’m raw dogging an iced beverage. I stare at the cup, confused. I think, maybe this is a way to reduce waste. I’m not a local. I might’ve missed something.
I turn around—no iced lids to be seen. I ask at the register. I thank the person who rang me out for the lid, because I know it’s later in the day and he’s extending himself by giving me the lid (it was around 5 in the afternoon, and they close later in the evening) and he corrects me—no, we’re not closed yet. We do a soft close later. Okay?
My friend orders an iced latte. We wait. Open cup, no lid. We ask for a lid.
Next friend orders. Hot drink. We wait. Open cup, no lid. We ask for a lid.
If I could turn around and look at the camera, I would have.
Major spoiler is that I’m a barista back home. If I handed a customer a drink without a lid, I would evaporate on sight. I’m literally so confused, and a part of me almost feels like he did this on purpose just to mess with me. If I come back to San Diego, I’ll look for another coffee shop, because I simply don’t know what dimension I stumbled upon here. I’m writing this the same night because I can’t stop thinking about it.
For reference, he had a trad panther tattoo, a carabiner, washed denim, and Docs. Good luck finding him on the streets of San Diego. 🫡 May he restock the...
Read moreWent in for a coffee, left with disappointment. I was told that the “free kids scoop” was wrong on the pos and it was supposed to be a discount. Unfortunately, the manager of the store “Tessie” said that it was inaccurate and refused to honor the original verbiage that was used by her employee last time I was here. It was sad to not even get an apology or resolve the issue at all, even with her...
Read moreThis is the best Latte I have ever had. It’s not a one time thing as well. Every single time I come in it’s amazing and just as good as the last time. My favorite drink is the Hawaiian Latte, might be the best Latte of my life. They even will take the time to make a nice decorative piece if you get a cup in person. Highly recommend...
