While the flavor of the food was very nice and unique, it was not enough to save this place. The service was probably the worst I've had anywhere in years, and they had plenty of staff (at least 4 wait staff stopped at our table, but never the same person). We were one of two occupied tables outside (probably 20 empty tables), while inside looked a bit more full, though not packed. Even with that, it took about 5-6 min after seating to get waters and another 10 to take our orders. One of our party asked for an appetizer plate for her meal as she wanted a small portion... her food was brought our roughly 10 min later, and roughly 15 min before any other food. While we waited, we did have a staff member ask us if we needed anything, but the only things we could ask for were the straws we had already asked for twice before. Once we had our food, which again was tasty, we all dug in, but two of us had trouble cutting our steak skewers (even with steak knives) because it was so tough. There was no server to complain to, and while I thought about going inside (several times) for help, we were enjoying the conversation at least, and had a movie to catch... The movie was almost a problem... we arrived at 745, finished eating around 840-845 and didn't get a bill until after 9... I should have gone in to find someone to pay. While we waited though, we got to enjoy some rather hard-core rap music and glaring TVs, which provided almost all the light source for the patio... This location was great as the Tilted Kilt, built for rowdy gatherings, but the slow service, lack of any theming or ambiance to tie in the restaurant, low quality meat for high prices ($20 for a single small skewer with rice/beans), and just overall lack of charm/welcome meant this new restaurant doesn't work. If the staff doesn't care for their customers, there are plenty of other spots in the mall that will. 2/10... would not try again.
PS: if you're taller like me, good luck sitting at their tables... they're chairs are high, with low tabletops, so your legs are forced upright, while lifting the table. I had to sit on a corner with a wide stance to keep my legs out from under the table. Felt like I was at the kids table. I still just cant get over how bad the service was though... so...
Read moreDog friendly brewery and restaurant. They have a huge patio which is perfect for San Diego weather! The only problem with the patio is it got a bit breezy and cool as the sun set. Bring a light jacket, or sit near the bar to cut down on the wind.
They have a huge outdoor TV so you can watch the games. They had a bunch of TV's inside too.
They have a good selection of beer. Lots of different styles, so there's something for everyone.
We were very happy with the food. The cheese balls were very cheesy. I thought the amount of meat I got with my skewer was a little small, but the skewer plate wasn't that expensive either, so that balances out. The meat itself was very tasty. Note that the beans have pork fat in them. I was happy to see yucca fries, I love those! Desserts seem to be "from the freezer" variety, so don't save room.
They provided really good service. They did table service, and in fact seemed to freak out when one of our party went to the bar to order another drink (they sent 2 people to check on our table lol). Food and drinks came out quickly whenever we ordered something.
We will definitely be back here. It was a good option for food, drinks, watching games, dogs, large groups, and kids. Really had something for everyone.
Edit: We came back here on a Friday night and it was PACKED! We did see a sign that says dogs can only be on the patio, which is fine. The steak and frites was very good, that's definitely what I'll be getting...
Read moreAs a Brazilian, I was very excited to try this place. Here is my review:
I was hoping for a few more Brazilian culinary options, instead of the 3-5 typical options. I dont understand why they offer chicken alfredo and such on a Brazilian brewery. Also the Brazilian hot dog having Pico de Gallo was ???????
Either way, my husband and I order 4 of the 5 Brazilian dish options they had.
Coxinha 10/10 - just great traditional coxinhas Cheese Balls 11/10 - the cheese is perfect, exactly what you’d get in Brazil Empanadas (knows as pastels in Brazil) - 10/10 cheese, 9/10 beef. Steak and Fries 6.5/10 - picanha was alright, no salt, and breading was just an odd combination ( farofa would have made the plate tastier)
Now on to the Kombuchas: dragon fruit: 9/10 amazing for a hard kombucha pina colada 7/10 it was good passion fruit 6/10 it was alright.
Service: 7/10 They brought the food before our drinks even though we came on a Tuesday and the bar was pretty much empty.
We will definitely be back. I’m very excited to see the Brazilian community expand and succeed in the area. On a note, we really hope to see more Brazilian dishes available at...
