Rubio's Coastal Grill — Restaurant in San Diego

Love this place. My girlfriend and I eat from here at least once a week. We ordered delivery Ubereats the other day, had a minor issue, so we contacted the store manager, (his name starts with an R), and he fixed the issue right away by offering us our entire ticket for free when we came in again, along with a free present of chips and salsa. We went in later that night, and despite them being busy in a taco Tuesday, he took care of everything and made sure the order was how we wanted it. We like sitting outside on the shaded patio with my dog. Always fresh food, (I love the costal Kick in the flavoring and the sauces)and the staff has been nothing but very friendly.

I think Rubio's food up until two years ago or so was fast food. In other words, it was made on a microwave; might have been grilled at one point, but when you got your food hot, it came out of a microwave. That's my opinion. But these days Rubio's is fresh grilled like they talk about. So, I think the quality of the food has much improved over a couple of years ago. I mean, let's face it,if you want microwave food you can go to Taco Bell-you don't need to go to Rubio's. So, Rubio's has distinguished themselves from the fast food restaurant crowd, and has gone back to making freshly prepared, delicious food. Haven't been to Rubios in years, and I was glad I went today. They had a special of 2 shrimp tacos with beans and chips for $8.99, so I decided to give it a try. I added a soft drink, and that brought it up to $13.23 with tax. The drink was almost 1/2 of what the meal was, but what can you do? You need something to wash down the food. But the shrimp tacos were delicious and the perfect amount of food. The shrimp was nice and crispy and flavorful. It came with cabage and lime and some sauce.
