I recently visited San Diego Burger Co. for a long-awaited reunion with a friend after two years. Excited to treat her to a nice dinner, we chose this restaurant based on its reputation for good burgers. Unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant.
My friend ordered first, and I followed, paying for the entire bill. However, things took a turn when I encountered Zayareth M, the cashier. Instead of processing our orders efficiently, she began pushing buttons to upsell the fries as a combo. It would have been much simpler if she had asked me directly if I wanted the combo from the start. In the process, she inadvertently deleted one of our burgers. I had no idea this had happened, as I had just provided my order.
After we received our food, we realized we were one burger short. My friend approached Zayareth, only to be told she needed to repurchase the missing burger. What was particularly frustrating was that Zayareth never offered to take my friend's order next; instead, I had to go to the front of the line to inform her that this was her mistake and that we shouldn’t have to wait in line with ten people behind us to replace an order. I then went to the register to discuss the confusion, but Zayareth seemed more interested in shifting blame than resolving the issue. Her attitude was troubling; there was no apology for the mix-up, just insistence that it was my fault. When I explained that my friend had to leave in less than 30 minutes, I asked if she could expedite the missing burger, especially since there was already a significant delay. She refused to help and ignored my request, displaying a poor attitude and a lack of understanding.
After repaying for the burger we thought we had already ordered, I returned to the register once the line cleared. I tried to explain again that my friend was on a time constraint and that the burger should have been part of our original order. Instead of being helpful, Zayareth continued to deflect responsibility and refused to provide her name until I noticed it on the receipt.
What added to my frustration was her handling of the order numbers; she skipped over ours multiple times, causing unnecessary delays. It felt like she was deliberately complicating the situation over a simple cheeseburger. I understand what good customer service looks like, and unfortunately, Zayareth did not provide it.
I haven’t felt compelled to write a review in a long time, but this experience left me extremely disappointed.
In conclusion, while San Diego Burger Co. may be known for its burgers, the customer service was lacking. If you value good service and a smooth dining experience, I recommend looking elsewhere. It’s unfortunate that a restaurant with such good burgers could be let down by poor customer interactions. This entire experience made me lose my appetite. Money not well spent. By the time my friend got her burger she only had 10 minutes before she had to leave. We had an hour and 30 minutes. That just goes to show you what a nightmare experience this was. So if you have almost 2 hours to spare for a simple burger dinner I recommend going...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic local restaurant nestled in the heart of San Diego's picturesque Seaport Village, and I must say, it was an absolutely wonderful experience for the whole family!
The first thing that struck me was the breathtaking view of the San Diego Bay. The serene waterfront setting, combined with the gentle sea breeze, created an inviting atmosphere that made our meal even more enjoyable. It's the perfect spot to unwind with your loved ones while savoring some delicious food.
Now, let's talk about the food because, oh my goodness, it was simply outstanding! The Teriyaki Burger was a delightful blend of flavors, with tender and juicy meat complemented perfectly by the sweet and savory teriyaki sauce. And the Double Bacon Cheeseburger? It was a carnivore's dream! The patties were cooked to perfection, and the combination of crispy bacon and gooey cheese was heavenly.
As for the sides, I couldn't get enough of their fries and sweet potato fries. The regular fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned just right, while the sweet potato fries added a delightful touch of sweetness to the meal. It's safe to say that my taste buds were in burger and fry heaven!
But what truly sets this place apart is the friendly and attentive staff. They made us feel like part of their restaurant family, providing top-notch service that made our visit even more enjoyable.
If you're looking for a memorable dining experience with a stunning waterfront view in the heart of San Diego, this restaurant at Seaport Village is the place to be. With mouthwatering burgers and a warm family-friendly atmosphere, you're in for a treat. I can't recommend it enough, and I can't wait to return for another unforgettable...
Read moreMy buddy and I were not impressed. The food was average -- at best -- and the service was slow, arduous, and confusing.
On a positive note, the ground beef was better than average and the bun was a memorable highlight, it was light, fluffy, and bakery fresh.
The onion rings were decent, hot on the inside and crunchy on the outside.
I ordered the teriyaki burger which only offered a hint of teriyaki, while the pineapple was passively limp. It had onion, tomato, and lettuce, which detracted from the advertised teriyaki and pineapple. Teriyaki flavor was missing in action.
Though a sign says. "Please be patient, we cook everything fresh. It's not fast food," my burger was lukewarm, teminiscent of countless paint-by- number fast food outlets. Though there were few other customers, it took about 15 to 20 minutes to get our food.
The cashier was nice enough, but communicated poorly, barely responding to questions and once disappearing into a back room for five minutes.
While the nearby upstairs restaurant said San Diego Burger Company part of the same group, the cashier denied that was true. Where to sit, where and when to get our food, what were our ordering options? Those are mysteries to be solved by other customers, because we were left scratching our heads.
A confused customer is an unsatisfied customer, or so it seems to me.
While listening to us order, a nearby fellow diner said, "After listening to you order, I have a bad feeling about this place."...
