Zytoun failed so comprehensively on Sunday, June 15, 2025 that I am compelled to describe the experience in some detail, especially due to the fact that I have recommended the place so highly based on our first experience 11 days prior. Our server took our significant order, including multiple appetizers, to begin with an order of pita bread with garlic dipping sauce/spread. We also ordered a salad and the roasted lamb chops as a main. Approximately 15 minutes later the pita was brought to the table, without the garlic spread. 15 minutes later we had to point out to the server the garlic spread we had ordered. Over 5 minutes later the server delivers the spread in togo containers. At that time we asked when we could expect the other appetizers. The server replied soon. 10 minutes later the server shows up with the lamb chops, no appetizers, no salad. We ask again about the appetizers and salad, at which time we are forced to once again point out what we ordered on the menu to the server. Shortly a salad comes out that is large enouvh for a party of 12. No appetizers. We then ask to see the manager who turns out to be sitting on the back veranda chatting with someone. The “manager” offers excuses including staffing issues and how busy they are, and offers us free dessert. The appetizers have still not arrived. We refuse dessert, cancel the appetizers, consume the grossly overcooked lamb, pay the bill and get the hell out. Walking down the promenade we witness the “manager” strolling towards us pulling a cart with bags of ice. At that point we broke out in uncontrollable laughter. Unfortunately, before we reached our condo, one of our party began experiencing stomach cramps and the onset of a diarrhea attack which has lasted all night. It needs to be pointed out that there are no restroom facilities in Zytoun, which leads to obvious staff sanitary concerns. The service was inept. The management was awol, the food was mediocre and less (what we had the displeasure of consuming). It was a horrendous Fathers...
Read moreI had the absolute pleasure of enjoying the lamb at Zytoun, and it was mind-blowing! Imagine the most delicious meat lollipop — tender, flavorful, and perfectly crispy on the outside. It reminded me of the richest, most tender ribeye, but served on a stick so I could hold it and savor every bite. The inside was deeply moist and flavorful without any of that gamey lamb taste I usually dislike. Honestly, I hate lamb, but these were sooo good!
Mike always goes above and beyond to make sure my meal is perfect and delicious. With my many allergies, I’m deeply grateful for the thoughtful accommodations he provides.
The atmosphere at Zytoun is stunning. You get to witness the hustle and bustle of life outside without feeling overwhelmed, thanks to the spacious layout that mutes the noise just right. I was lucky to enjoy a beautiful waterfront view while dining it felt so peaceful and special. I also loved the decor; each space had its own unique vibe, like entering into different places, and the landscaping was just gorgeous.
Parking was super easy too, which is always a bonus. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for an amazing meal in a...
Read moreZytoun Gourmet Mediterranean is such a hidden gem! The minute you walk in, the Arabic music sets the mood, warm, and authentic. The food was incredible. I got the chicken shawarma bites and they were sooo good, juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked.
I had a sore throat that day and my waiter, Travis, was so thoughtful by recommending and customizing my tea with honey, lemon, and mint to help soothe it, which really shows how much they care about their customers and are attentive. The dessert was so delicious!
The location is perfect, right in Seaport Village with a nice view. Yes, you do pay for parking but that’s everywhere in downtown so don’t let that be the issue to not try this spot!
Being Middle Eastern and living in San Diego for 16 years, I can honestly say this is one of the best Mediterranean spots around. They’re connected with Aladdin restaurant, so you already know the food’s top-notch.
Honestly, if anyone leaves a bad review here, they’re probably just having a bad day or they’re middle eastern and used to making things a different way lol it’s that good! Go and take...
