On my continuing quest to Try Something New (TSN) around town and now including an Acai bowl tour, I stopped by the highly suggested Val's Coffee Corner to try their Acai bowl offering. Val’s Corner is located on Cable (it shares an alley with Kilowatt). My timing was perfect because Val herself made a special guest appearance. Their bowl comes with organic Acai sorbet topped with granola, toasted coconut, white coconut, banana, strawberry, blueberry, honey, and chia seeds. I asked if people order peanut butter in the bowls, and the friendly person working smiled and said, “Americans, yes. In Brazil, no.” 😁 Wanting it authentic, I humorously said, “Then absolutely no peanut butter in mine this time.” What I was then served was a beautiful work of art. The base was smooth and creamy with a deep berry flavor, and the toppings gave it the perfect crunch and sweetness. EVERY SINGLE BITE was mouth meltingly good!!! I will definitely recommend this delicious Acai bowl! I already want another one. 🟣🥄

Update: second visit Yesterday I skipped breakfast and for lunch I was craving a green smoothie drink and had just remembered Val’s Coffee Corner had a great looking Green Bowl that I’ve been wanting to try. So instead of a drink I stopped Val’s and grabbed their amazing Green Bowl of kale, spinach, mango, pineapples & bananas blended with almond milk and topped with fresh bananas, blueberries, avocado, goji berries, pecans, chia seeds & honey. From the moment this vibrant Green Bowl was set before me, I knew I was in for something special. Wow! 😁 The blended ingredients in were the perfect base for the toppings that truly elevated this bowl into a symphony of flavors and textures. It was the perfect brain food that I was needing. By the time I reached the bottom, I honestly felt a genuine sense of happiness—a mood boost that lasted long after the last spoonful was gone. If you're looking for the perfect blend of health, taste, and happiness,...
Read moreI was at the chilli cook off yesterday and I kept seeing people walk around with this beautiful bowls but I wasn't seeing that at any of the main street vendors. We were on the way home and I ended up asking someone who walked by where they got that. They pointed us to a coffee shop on one of the side streets. My girlfriend and I decided to go check it out, and we are glad we did! That was the best acai I have ever had and the girls working there, seriously the best customer service we got the entire day. I kid you not, it was almost 5 in the afternoon and their line was so long I considered not staying but that acai looked so refreshing. The ladies did not miss a bit, everyone had a smile on their face, the lady at the register explained to us the options very patiently and not letting the line scare her and later another lady brought us two beautiful acai bowl, seriously they were pieces of art. We were lucky enough to get a table so we decided to enjoy our food there and the atmosphere was so good, don't get me wrong, the place was popping, but people seem to get calmer while they were there, like we were in a bubble and we could rest from the sun and the craziness of the cook off. We will definitely return. Great place, great...

One of the standout aspects of Val’s is their unwavering acceptance and hospitality towards me and my service dog. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure that we always feel comfortable and accommodated. Their genuine kindness and attention to detail make each visit a delightful experience.
The coffee is, of course, exceptional. Every cup is brewed to perfection, capturing the rich and vibrant flavors that Brazilian coffee is known for. The selection of pastries and snacks is equally impressive, offering a variety of delicious treats that complement the coffee beautifully.
