First time here. I live in the neighborhood and could have become a regular if I really enjoyed my meal but I didn't. I don't think that I will give them another chance actually. I saw good reviews and people seemed to like it. I wanted the 2 fish taco combo, and would have liked to try 2 different kinds of grilled fish, salmon and mahi, but they didn't allow that. You had to take both the same. I ordered the mahi and it was overcooked and dried out. In fact I'm not sure that I didn't get the cheaper fish, the swai. Because I initially ordered the swai until I googled it. I changed my order, but still might have received the swai while being billed for the mahi. Regardless, it wasn't good, and maybe if they would've let me try one of each, I could have judged my review on the salmon instead. Hopefully a fish place can make a good piece of salmon. But the tacos were dry as heck, and they had been stingy with the special salsa on them, a whitish green color. I asked for a side cup of more of the salsa. They brought me a small plastic cup that was less than a third filled with the salsa, a third a white creamy tartar sauce type of dressing, and a third chipotle mayonnaise. I didn't ask for any tartar sauce or mayo. I wanted what I asked for, more of the salsa. In order to not be too dry to swallow, I did have to use a little bit of each. Too many flavors. I couldn't really tell you what they were supposed to taste like. The combo came with a drink order and I wanted to substitute a coffee for the soft drink. With their drink prices, that was substituting something cheaper but they still wouldn't do it. The soft drinks are $4.25, coffee is $3.95. The explanation first was that the soft drink is cheaper and I had to point out that it wasn't.Then the next argument was that soft drinks are refillable and coffee is not. You shouldn't get any argument with your lunch, you should be able to get the drink of your choice, and why not coffee refills? I suggested that coffee should be refillable too in a little neighborhood cafe. But yeah. it's too much more expensive. I didn't ask for an argument, I just wanted to drink what I was in the mood for. At least they let me get a cold...
Read moreWe found this place a little while ago while looking for fish and chips. They have a pretty big selection of food, but I have got to say they do some of the dishes pretty well. The most interesting thing we got here was definitely the sweet corn milk drink, which at the time of this review comes free with a check in. I love how it is easy to pay with Apply Pay, and how easy it was for me to order both times. They seem to get the food ready pretty fast, so just make sure you get the timing right if you plan to get it to go.
Food Like I mentioned before the food is pretty good, and to find this place in San Dimas, lets say it is awesome. Great to see so much more different types of restaurants like this open up in this city. We have tried : Fried Calamari - This comes with a cocktail sauce and was quite tasty! Fried Zucchini - Comes with a ranch dip, would probably prefer it was less breading. Cajun Salmon Salad- The salmon was just cooked to perfection, not too dry, just right with the Cajun Seasoning. Clam Chowder - If you want Clam Chowder this place has a pretty good one Shrimp Garlic Noodle- this was just ok.. again maybe if we ate it when it came out it may have been more tastier Smoky Seared Ahi Tuna - I believe this was one of my favorite dishes here, sweared Ahi, not too cooked or too raw. Yum Crusted Swai Caesar salad- I liked the different breading they used for this. It was pretty decent, but the sauce was too thick. Pacific Cod with Miso Glaze - The cod was pretty good, I was just not that big of a fan of the purple mash potatoes
The only comment I would make is that their salad dressings, I wish was not so thick. It just tasted more like a dip instead of a dressing .
Both of the times I ordered to go, and like I said it was quick and easy. Both times I had to get my food at different times, once late, and once on time... and definitely you know fried food taste better when it just comes out. We will see if we will get to try something else next...
Read more1st time here with my husband to break our fast during ramadan. We tried the fish & chips, coconut shrimp, calamari and a Raspberry tea. The fish & chips were fresh and tender, the batter was a little soggy in the middle but otherwise perfect. The coconut shrimp and calamari was my favorite, only complaint is i wish there was a little more calamari, so good! The dipping sauces are fresh, tarter, cocktail and a sweet mango. The kale salad with creamy asian style dressing (came with fish) was amazing, even my husband who struggles eating salads, ate a good amount! Id like to mention that the customer service at this asian style restaurant was absolutely amazing. We have eaten at many resturants in this area ocean grill is better than the competitors. They checked on us and refilled out drinks, i believe its family run. One of the top places in san dimas, we needed better restaurants thank you! I will be coming back with more people, delicious! No pictures because the food is THAT good and the prices are great, 11$ for the...
