Correct. It is expensive here but for all those ppl complaining — you likely voted for an increase in wages and taxes… this all has to be passed on otherwise the owner would see a margin decrease. It’s shocking to me when I see San Franciscans, of all ppl, complain about prices. It comes from a fundamental misunderstanding of tax systems and how businesses operate - do you not realize that you can’t hire, even the most junior staff, in San Francisco for less than ~$20 an hour.

Read moreI've been coming here for years, the quality and portion size has gone down.. and prices have gone up. Yeah, prices have gone up everywhere, but at least don't make things smaller on top of it. They also don't have the good pastries anymore, they taste more generic now. It also takes forever for them to make a sandwich most days.

Read moreGreat for to-go deli orders, cafe style dine-in outside to people watch or inside, or top notch catering orders. The food is restaurant quality (see my picture of the Eggplant Napoleon).
Some of my favorites are the Chicken Mendo sandwich (see picture) and items from the refrigerated case such as marinated chicken, grilled vegetables, meatballs, kale salad etc.
They don't have a large dessert selection, but the baked goods are just as delicious as the savories and they're also one of the few places advertising soft serve ice cream made using Strauss Creamery...
