I am writing to bring to your attention an unfortunate incident that occurred at your establishment last night. I believe it's crucial to inform you about this situation, as it reflects negatively on the reputation and atmosphere of your establishment.

During my visit, I observed a bartender (a tall black guy) exhibiting discriminatory behavior towards a group of Asian patrons. This behavior included Igor and no service to us. We were there 6 pm, only have 5 customers at that menome. Such conduct is entirely unacceptable and goes against the principles of equality and respect that we expect from businesses in our community.

I believe it is important for you, as the manager, to be aware of this incident and take appropriate action to address it. Discrimination of any form should not be tolerated in your establishment, as it not only affects the victims but also harms the reputation of your business.

I kindly request that you investigate this matter thoroughly, take any necessary disciplinary actions, and ensure that all staff members are trained on diversity, inclusion, and anti-discrimination policies. Your prompt attention to this matter will demonstrate your commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive environment at your establishment.

I wish I could say this bar felt like a safe, inclusive space, but my experience here was the opposite. Blackbird may market itself as a gay-friendly bar, but that doesn’t prevent discrimination in other ways.

While participating in a bartending apprenticeship program (called The Cocktail Camp) hosted at Blackbird, I was openly talked about and mocked by the lead bartender while I was working behind the bar within earshot. The instructor and bar staff laughed and made comments about me instead of creating a professional learning environment. As someone navigating homelessness at the time, I was already in a vulnerable position, and their behavior only added humiliation to what was supposed to be an educational setting.

A bar that prides itself on being inclusive should not foster an environment where staff and program leaders talk down to participants, discriminate based on circumstance, and eject people without cause. For me, Blackbird was not a safe or...

This place gets LOUD so be warned, but other than that this space is awesome. The decor is simple and yet somehow provides some "chic-ness" to the drinkers and fashionistas surrounding. The bartenders are trained well when it comes to making a proper drink and shaking that cocktail shaker well. And I mean WELL. But where have all the mustaches gone? ...you might ask, if they aren't in the Mission district located on the face of a young up-and-coming hipster they would be located on the patrons/bartenders of this trendy hot-spot.

Blackbird draws a good crowd of people and it seems as if everyone clusters here for some sort of birthday or going away celebration so you know it's near and dear to lot's of people's hearts. The prices are reasonable and the music is good. Pull up a chair/booth seat if you can find one, and make sure to stop by the photo booth on your way out for a last minute...
