Service was borderline rude and missed every basic check point a waiter or team should do.
I feel conflicted writing this because the food here is usually incredible, and I know the chefs and cooks are talented. However, today's experience was disappointing and not up to their usual standard. The service was noticeably lacking—we waited over 10 minutes after being seated without being offered water, and when we finally flagged down a waiter, he seemed more interested in chatting with the chef than helping us. Even after placing our order, we still had to ask for water, which seems like a basic expectation, especially after waiting outside for 40 minutes for a table.
The seating was so cramped that I was elbowed twice by people on either side, which made the experience uncomfortable. I understand the need to maximize space, but it felt excessive. Additionally, I watched our plates sit under a hot plate for 10 minutes while they waited for my side of bacon, which affected the quality of the meal. When we finally managed to get the check, it was clear that the overall experience left both of us, even my usually positive date, feeling disheartened. It's frustrating because I know this place is capable of so...
Read more5 stars for the professionalism. My comments represent 3 orders from 3 people.
I ordered a side of potatoes and at the bottom of the bowl, after having eaten some, I saw pieces of bacon. I am vegetarian, and mentioned it to the server and they discussed with their manager and they apologized, took off the potatoes and our drinks. That was a nice gesture and I appreciate that. They also accommodated our dairy-sensitive person as well which was nice. So 5 stars on management and service.
Now the food and drinks:
I had an iced latte with oat milk and I liked it. I wish it was a bit larger. The bloody mary was spicy. So on drinks maybe 4 stars.
The Swedish pancake was great. The French toast could improve. Somehow the flavor was too strong and lemony and the edges of the toasts were a bit hard (in my opinion).
The eggs Benedict was okay as well but not the best. The food gets 4 stars as well.
Overall, a chill and nice atmosphere for a Monday brunch, if you are visiting, and nice staff.
I may come back but will be mindful while ordering and will ask more questions to confirm my dietary restrictions are met.

Read moreAs a local in the Mission, this is my favorite brunch spot (sans Plow, which is always packed with tourists and ridiculous wait times). I think the atmosphere here is way better than Plow. Also, Plow potatoes might be a 10/10 but the potatoes here are like a 9/10... which I feel like already makes this place more than worth it, if you factor in the wait.
Wooden Spoon serves brunch everyday, so sometimes I come for brunch on a weekday if I'm craving breakfast.
They really curated their menu and you can't go wrong with anything: my personal favorites are the avocado toast, breakfast panini, the big spoon, and soft scrambled eggs (with smoked salmon!). My vegan partner joins me often because they make an entirely vegan huevos divorciados with "the best eggs"--he was actually hesitant to eat them at first because they looked so much like real eggs!
Shout out to Luke, the best bartender! He is such a kind human. Get the Luke's Espresso-tini--it's his signature and AMAZING.
The wait can be long on the weekends if you don't come early, but bar...
