Like a Parisienne hole in the wall... a true delight!
There is a certain point, around 300 reviews for a restaurant, that maybe you don't need any more reviews. Where it simply doesn't matter because the people have spoken..... and they have an opinion, and they want you to know it. In this case, something like 370 people want you to know it.
It is a point where my review becomes a teardrop in a teeming river of thoughts, and experiences. Tripadvisor didn't even have this listed, so at least I am relevant over there. =)
I loved this place. The wine list wasn't that deep frankly, and I never figured out why. I thought the apps were slightly overpriced.. that is - until the fruit and cheese platter came out... immaculate, geometric, adorned with wonderful nibbly bits. It was a treat. One of the more romantic spots and surprisingly pleasant experiences I have had in this city in a long time.
Great wines, very cool urbane scene reminiscent of Parisian "holes in the basement", and a dimly lit room with warm brick & interior design to gaze across the tiny table at your...

The work of local artists still graces the walls, conversation flows as freely as wine, and an abiding love for the community echoes loudly through the many events the bar hosts.
Sporting a fabulous by-the-glass program (and a killer happy hour), Hôtel Biron offers a lovely selection of wine, vermouth, sake, and beer, all at friendly prices. If you're looking to celebrate, one should not overlook the humble "Chambong" – just don't be surprised when the staff start chanting, and everyone else in the bar seems to...
Read moreHole in the wall wine bar in San Francisco. Although the name says Hotel, it is not a hotel. Great wine selection (a little pricey), limited seating, casual atmosphere with friendly, knowledgeable staff. If they have a bottle of the wine you are picking up, open, the staff is willing to pour out a small taster for you before you buy the bottle. Cheese, nuts and charcuterie platter is available to purchase. One of the members in our group has a nut allergy and we forgot to ask them to remove almonds from the platter. The staff was wonderful enough to take back our order and bring us a fresh plate without almonds. A fun place to go to for a date night, or to catch up with friends over...
