When it comes to dining experiences, some people are all about the ambiance and others are all about the food. However, when it comes to this particular eatery, it's hard to say which is more impressive. The walk up the street to this restaurant is certainly a great way to work up an appetite, but even if you arrived there via teleportation, you'd still be impressed with what you find.
Let's start with the lasagna. When it arrived at the table, it was clear that this wasn't going to be a dainty little slice of pasta. This was a beast of a dish, with layers of cheese, noodles, and sauce piled high. The meat sauce was slathered on so generously that you could practically see it dripping off the edges. But hey, that's the way some people like it, right? And in this case, it definitely worked. The lasagna was so hearty that it felt like a meal and a half. In fact, it was so big that there was enough leftover to take home for dinner. That's what we call value for money.
But it wasn't just the quantity of the food that made this meal so enjoyable. It was the quality too. Despite being as heavy as a brick, the lasagna was incredibly flavorful. The sauce had just the right balance of sweetness and acidity, and the cheese was melted to perfection. The noodles had just enough texture to give the dish some bite, but not so much that they were chewy. Overall, it was a delicious brick of a lasagna that we devoured happily.
To top it all off, we got to enjoy our meal outside on a cute little table that added to the charm of the whole experience. It wasn't the sturdiest piece of furniture, but that just made it all the more endearing. So, whether you walk, bike, or drive to this restaurant, you won't be disappointed. It's a place where you can indulge in some seriously tasty food and enjoy a...
Read moreThe Italian Homemade Company doesn’t offer a form on their website or an email to provide feedback. I’m not going to call the restaurant on a likely busy Saturday night and complain to someone who approved my food being sent out. So instead sharing feedback in a public forum.
I placed an order tonight on Uber Eats from the Hayes Valley location. The order arrived within about 40 minutes of me placing the order and the driver came to me immediately after getting the order.
I ordered fairly consistently from Italian Homemade and the food tonight wasn’t great. My. Meat lasagna was sitting in 1” of oil. I’m not sure how you get that much grease from a traditional meat sauce. The oven roasted tomato salad I ordered came with a half raw tomato topped with dry breadcrumbs. That tomato never saw an oven. The location was apparently out of radishes so instead I received additional raw tomato. I hate raw tomato, so the handful of lettuce I ate with the side of oil (no vinaigrette), wasn’t worth the $12.
Heed caution about dining here. There are so many other great Italian restaurants in the city where the staff and owners care about their customers and the...

I ordered the pork tortellini with pastacciata sauce. The pasta was clearly homemade fresh, and cooked al dente. The sauce was a creamy tomato sauce, salty and flavorful, with tiny bits of meat in it.
My friend ordered the Cassone Verde, which is similar to a calzone but not fried. It had a flavorful broccoli rabe, potato, and onion filling, with a creamy tomato sauce for dipping.
For dessert I got the tiramisu. The slice was slightly larger than my palm. The ladyfingers were firm and not soggy, but they could have used some more liquor. The cream on top lightly sweet; it wasn't marscapone, but somewhere between a very light whipped cream and a custard. Overall it was very good.
My friend got the caffe gelato. The coffee flavor was strong but not overpowering. One of the staff told us it was from a local gelato place called...
