My WORST dining experience ever. Not "one of", IT IS THE WORST FOR MY PAST DECADES. I was so furious when I got out of this place.
They don't know how to serve clients and that is fine. Evev worse, they don't respect people at all. When we questioned about why the final price on the bill was that high, they were so reluctant to show us the details of the bill. They firstly shouted out to each other "these people don't want to pay", then they carried the calculator with such an attitude to our desk with "I will calculate it for you", followed with "each rice is 1.5, you ordered 8 how much is it" - listen, is it the way you treat your clients? And just a BTW, we just got two large bowl of rice, and I have never seen restaurant charging people for rice in this weird way.
Then I was like "you said you will do the calculation, right? Please". And you know what happened then? The waitress just STARED at me at a second with such a cursy look! I swear to God that is the MOST evil/terrible/intimidating stare I have ever experienced. It was like I had done something un-excuseable to her. I got so infuriated so I had to close my eyes, kept silent, and let my friends deal with it, otherwise I was afraid I would just fight with them. And I am not lying - I took out my phone and was ready to call 911 because the crew there had already crowded our table and we had a girl with us.
Oh and did I forgot to mention that they charged a dish 35 bucks, which is marked as 25 in their menu? When we questioned, they were like "you have to pay! Everyone else from such a long while ago paid 35!"
Oh and did I also forget to mentioned that we waited there 60 minutes for our food and the crew there were just sitting in the lobby playing mobile games? [smilence]
To be fair, their food is ok. But trust me, it is not worthy at all because of their terribly-terrible service - unless you are willing to take the risk to...
Read moreI recently had the misfortune of dining at this establishment and found it necessary to share my disappointing experience. As a patron of many different eateries, I believe in fair and balanced reviews, hence why this one is rather hard to write.
My order consisted of duck and pork, both classic staples in any restaurant's repertoire. However, to my dismay, the quality of these dishes was severely lacking. The duck and pork were extraordinarily tough to eat, a factor that suggested they might not have been fresh. Properly cooked, these dishes should have been tender and flavorful, but instead, I was presented with dishes that did not meet basic culinary standards.
In response to this, I requested to return the harder dish of the two - a modest request in light of the quality of the food. I was stunned when my request was denied, a clear example of inadequate service and disregard for customer satisfaction. Every customer's experience matters, and in this case, I felt my concerns were dismissed.
Further adding to the negative experience was an unusual and, quite frankly, absurd incident regarding my payment. I paid with my credit card and later was asked to provide another signature because they claimed they couldn't read my initial one. This is a first for me in all my years of dining out. It's simply unacceptable and only served to worsen an already bad dining experience.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend this establishment due to the subpar food and the underwhelming customer service. I'm deeply disappointed with my experience and hope this feedback spurs some significant changes in how they operate. A restaurant should always strive to provide the best food and service to its patrons, and I'm afraid to say that, based on this experience, this restaurant fell significantly short of...
Read moreMixed bag... if you get the cheap take-out-at-lunch selection (from a handful of alternatives), the results are predictably mediocre. On this they're trying to cater to the tuck-and-run bunch. Nothing bad, nothing great.
HOWEVER - if you stick around and get seated, the staff is efficient, and the kitchen usually (though not always) preps fast. Responding to the negative reviews: if you order "vegetarian" in a Hunan restaurant, don't act so surprised that the result is "you gotta be kidding". Be real: Hunan style is dominated by strongly flavored smoked meats, salty preserved vegetables, powerful amounts of onion, garlic, chili oil and cabbages. Order "camp" and you'll be much happier: what are their specials? What's up for grabs today? Then you'll be happy. (or maybe never)
I find everything I've tried so far a bit salty. Having been to many "Henry's Hunan" places over the years - this is normal. Not welcome, but just the way it is. I found the $11.95 "Orange Beef" to be one of the better things they do. It mostly is the reason I keep returning.
DO NOT expect to be seated in a reasonable amount of time on weekdays around "office lunch period" (which is to say, 12 noon to about 1:00 pm). The hungry masses are Hell-bent to get their grub, and every available seat is in use. It is much much more relaxing to get here at 11:45 AM (just 15 minutes before conventional lunch hour!), get a good seat, quick waitering, quick food prep in the kitchen, and a nice cup of tea (with real tea leaves in the pot).
CONCLUSION: a good value, for what they charge. Not great, just good. But when you need "cheap and good", this place...
