Key Klub is the perfect addition to the neighborhood. Iâve been here a few times. Once just for drinks and twice to eat drink off their menu.
First, letâs talk about the vibe. The exposed brick, low light, and Japanese design elements (paper lantern light shades) make this the perfect spot to drink wine after a work day, a night out on town or a date night.
The wine list is spectacular with a great range that will suit anyoneâs tastes. Thereâs a section for funky wines that speaks to my heart. The list changes on the regular, like I was there on a Thursday and then came back on Saturday to see new wines. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and willing to take risks when putting certain wines on the list. For example, you wonât find delicious wines from Texas probably anywhere else in SF.
Now on to the food. I tried the burger first. Itâs going to be real hard not getting it every time. Having just that with a glass of wine is magnifiquĂ©. I came back another day to try the steak, lamb meatballs and charred cauliflower. All stellar dishes that are great to share with someone else.

Read moreI was visiting town for a few days and looking for a low key spot to catch up with some old friends. I had just finished eating dinner at a smaller restaurant on Bush street and came across Key Klub. This place checked all my boxes for a bomb Friday night:
Good music at a decent decibel (I want my bar music to be a soundtrack. Not a concert. I was able to speak with my friends without needing to shout or pull them to my ear).
Great tap & wine selection. There were tons of options for what I could drink. I could also just order a bottle of Pinot for 6 people easily.
Clean bathrooms. Sometimes going into a bar bathroom requires a hazmat suit. Key Klub's bathrooms level of cleanliness brought me a ton of relief.
Lots of space. Let's be real. San Francisco is a small city and certain restaurants / bars really cram you in. Key Klub seemed to go on forever. In an era of social distancing this is exactly what I wanted.
TL;DR It's a good place to catch up with old friends or...
Read moreWith its close proximity to Union Square and laid-back vibe, Key Klub is a spot that attracts SF locals and visitors alike. It's an "order at the bar" kind of place that pumps up the music as the evening wears on. The atmosphere is lively. I brought an old friend from out of town who had just gotten off a flight, and Key Klub was perfect. No reservations required!
This is a wine and beer joint--no cocktails--with really excellent food that is a surprisingly good value. We ordered and shared the duck liver french toast, the burger, a pile a fries, the key klub melt, and the steak au poivre, which was our favorite (we were very hungry). I wouldn't get the toast again, but everything else was phenomenally well-seasoned and prepared.
You really can't go wrong with this place. The only downside is that it can get pretty crowded, especially on weekends, but it seems they turn tables around pretty efficiently.
I think this place would be great for a solo...
