I've been looking forward to coming back and visiting this place for half a month now and I was so excited that my wait was FINALLY OVER ! when I ordered and I drove all the way across the city and through a bunch of traffic and bunch of driving just to get back there from where I was at and basically went out of my way to get there .... And , they didn't put any of the sauces in with my order for me , and not even the fortune cookie ! not even a napkin ! not even a thank you ! WHO forgets to put the fortune cookie in ! The cookie and sauces are a part of the meal ! An important part of the recipe ! and to be quite honest the food wasn't as good as is it normally is ! so I don't know if you have a new cook or just that this is a different one that I've never had , but get the other chef to train this one ! I'm not really pleased cuz you know it takes away from the whole experience ! and I live 90 minutes away from San Francisco .. I was there because I had a client that I had to bring down to the city today and I told the client that I was taking a little bit of me time just to be able to come to my favorite restaurant all I was going to do is pick up some food and I'd eat it later in order to get back to my clients time! so very disappointed !!! if I could have given them zero Stars I would have ! ruined my experience...
Read moreI’m an airline guy and I order in to hotel rooms all over the world. I have a large basis for comparison, to say the least. This outfit is, if not the worst, at least tied for the worst, Chinese I’ve encountered since 1982. Properly executed, Chinese food is a delightful collection of contrasts - flavors, textures, aromas. I suppose my food being hard yet dry, over cooked yet cold, and expensive yet barely taking space in the container could be called, “contrasting”. But the thing that really got me was, after spending the better part of $30 on GTC, potstickers, and a soda, they left the potstickers out of my order. I called, and was informed that they did pack the potstickers, I was wrong, and I was out of luck. The money isn’t the thing, honestly. I can afford the omission. The thing is, that the thing I hate most is dishonesty and City Chopsticks is replete with it. I don’t believe their longevity depends on shorting me $7, but if so then they may consider me a silent partner who is helping to keep them afloat for another day or so to perpetrate similar acts on malfeasance on unsuspecting visitors to the great city of SF. Too bad the review can’t be, “0” stars. Seriously,...
Read moreAfter checking in late following a long flight, I decided to order delivery from City Chopsticks which was fairly close to my hotel. Delivery was pretty quick, about 30 minutes from the time I placed the order. I enjoyed my food overall. I got egg rolls, pot stickers, wonton soup, chicken & broccoli and chicken fried rice. The pot stickers were good, seemed handmade rather than from a frozen bag. The egg rolls were ok but had too many mushrooms for my tastes, I like them stuffed more with cabbage and other veggies. The mushroom taste kind of took over. The wonton soup was good except there was a lot of large pieces of either spinach or some other type of dark green leaf vegetable. They were too big to eat without a knife (which I didn't have) so they went to waste. The chicken and broccoli was good, with plenty of white meat chicken. My favorite was the chicken fried rice, it wasn't typical of Chinese take out in that they didn't drench it with soy sauce. The rice was still white and had a very nice flavor from the aromatics, salt and garlic. I would order from this...
