Merkado — Restaurant in San Francisco

I am not big on google reviews, but this one is very much required.

My friends and I walked in and were told to sit at the bar. We did as instructed, ordered drinks and food, and were then asked for IDs after placing our order. One of my friends was denied service because they claimed she “didn’t look old enough” - very cool.

Instead of resolving the situation with any professionalism, we were shoved into a corner table and had to carry our own seats. Halfway through our food and drinks, we were abruptly asked to leave without explanation - and even told to never come back.

I’ve never experienced such disrespectful, condescending treatment at a restaurant. If Mercado thinks this is acceptable customer service, they have no business being in hospitality.

Avoid this place - there are plenty of restaurants in the area that know how to treat people with...

We visited Merkado with our two young boys before a Tuesday night Giants game, which happened to be (you guessed it) Taco Tuesday. They have a great selection of fantastic tacos. Sadly, they were out of all seafood options for the day, which meant no fish tacos and no ceviche, etc. Nevertheless, the other tacos (chicken, carnitas, veggie, etc.), guacamole, and appetizers were outstanding.

We tried most of the taco offerings, the guacamole, and lamb meatballs. The best item was quiete easily the lamb tacos, which were tender, juicy and tasty.

Service was good, although a bit slow (perhaps understaffed). Our server was wonderful, which more than made up for it.

They also have a small kids menu, which is nice, and a good selection of beverages for adults. We would definitely return when we come to the...

One-Star (would give zero if I could)

I’ve had more pleasant experiences waiting at the DMV on a Monday morning than I did inside this “restaurant.” We were shoved into a corner, ignored for what felt like geological time, and then without so much as a raised voice or a single sip of alcohol my completely legal-age friend was abruptly told to “leave cause you are underage”.

Service? Non-existent. Hospitality? A myth. The only thing delivered promptly was attitude. They kicked us out after we hadnt even finished our drinks that they charged 30 dollars for lol.

If you’re craving disappointment garnished with disrespect, by all means, give them your money. Otherwise, save yourself the headache, there are gas-station microwaves with better customer service (and probably...
