I recently visited PURA, a once-stylish hotspot that has long been synonymous with dressing to impress. Entrance fee is $35.
Fast forward to today, and the scene has undeniably shifted. As I entered the club this time, I was taken aback by the casual attire that filled the space. Sandals, sneakers, and even flip-flops seemed to have taken over the dance floor. While I appreciate a more relaxed environment, it felt like a significant departure from the club's original vibe.
Gone are the days of carefully curated outfits that spoke to the effort put into a night out. Instead, the ambiance had transformed into something more laid-back — perhaps too laid-back for a venue that once prided itself on elegance. While I understand that comfort is key for many, the stark contrast left me longing for the days when patrons dressed to impress.
It’s worth noting that the casual attire did not diminish the fun; the energy was still high, and people seemed to enjoy themselves just as much. However, the sense of occasion that once enveloped the club felt diminished. The anticipation of dressing up, of making an entrance, has been replaced by a more relaxed, almost indifferent approach to style.
In conclusion, while the relaxed dress code may cater to a broader audience and encourage more people to enjoy the nightlife, I can’t help but miss the elegance and charm that came with dressing to impress. Here’s hoping that PURA can find a balance that embraces both comfort and style, allowing patrons to express themselves while still maintaining a sense of occasion. After all, a little effort can go a long way in creating a...

Parking isn’t too bad if you’re down for a small walk.(2 blocks) Inside the club there are 4 rooms. I’m not sure which is is the hottest. I don’t think the hip hop room even has AC. Musty. Bathrooms were ok. Sound quality was just ok. Lights were cool on the main floor. People are all pretty drunk and aggressively shoving into you consistently. Club doesn’t enforce dress code on everyone only selected people. Maybe it was a bad night, but it’s a pass for me. Batchata/Cumbria room was lit. Cocktails are $16+. Cover is $30 basically buy them online. They have last call at 1:45 but you have to finish your drink before 2 or they make you throw it out. Not sure the point of staying open until 3 most people leave after they are forced to throw the drink out (or chug it). It’s the Valencia room on Sunday for me if I’m looking for a Spanish night out. Usually a vibe there. People and staff are overly aggressive and pushy here. E for effort. The djs were ok. Trying to find a manager or contact info on manager at this club is extremely hard to do. Emailed them about my issue after trying to find a manager in the club. No response still. Expect aggressive security, and a lot of...
Read morehad an incredibly disappointing experience with this nightclub due to their flawed and outdated ID verification process. It's mind-boggling that they rely solely on a single point of failure—a scanning device that is not only unreliable but seems incapable of properly reading legitimate IDs. My driver's license is fully valid, yet the device failed to scan it, leading the staff to treat me with unnecessary suspicion.
The lack of a contingency plan is astounding. Are you seriously telling me that if your scanner can't read an ID, the person is simply denied entry? This policy not only alienates potential patrons but also seems like a terrible business practice.
This experience left a bad taste in my mouth. It’s clear that customer service and operational efficiency are not priorities for this club. If they can't even manage the basics of entry in a professional and respectful manner, I have little confidence in the rest of their operations. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for a hassle-free and...
