Had brunch here on a Saturday. The place was busy but there was turnover for the tables. I was greeted by a gentleman when I walked in. He gave me a paper menu and told me to order at the register when I was ready. They gave me a number to place on a table that I chose. It was open seating. There was an inside area, an outdoors area on the street with enclosed booths and tables, and an upstairs. I sat in an enclave table for five or six in the upstairs area. The table still had dishes and cups from the prior guest so I asked a waiter to bus it. They were responsive and took care of it quickly. The interior of the restaurant looked like a lodge. There were individual tables with two and four seats, some tables with benches, and coffee table like setups with benches and seats. It made for a homey atmosphere. As there were many people in the restaurant when I was there, it got quite loud and I had a little trouble hearing my friend talk. The greeter, hosts, and waiters were addressed in Christmas gear. And there was a fully dressed and bearded Santa making people feel welcome. Plus point for the spirit. I had the deep dish quiche with a side salad and a fruit cup. My friend had a breakfast sandwich with a hash brown. I was satisfied with the presentation when the food came out. My quiche was heated and at a good temperature when it reached my table. The breakfast sandwich was put together well and the hash browns looked fresh off the grill. My quiche was pretty good. It was fresh and probably prepared that morning. No salt or pepper needed for me. The quiche was not over the top amazing, but did not miss the mark. I had a pleasant experience here on the whole. I appreciated the hosts explaining the setup to me, the Santa hats and Christmas decorations, and the welcoming...
Read moreI had an opportunity to pick up food at his restaurant a couple of times while staying at a nearby hotel. I found the people who greeted me or handed me my to-go order on each visit the most pleasant and welcoming. The three wait staff/ cashiers were very arrogant and smart out the mouth. Because I am not a resident of SF, I asked the cashier what the SF tax meant on my receipt. He looked at me and said," I don't know" as he leaned back with his hands crossed. The last day of my visit, I wanted to place another to- go order for my last day. The cashier told me that I would have to go to the other side. There is no distinct sign inside or outside that a take-out order should be completed on the other side of the restaurant. I explained to him that I placed a take-out order the other day. He let me know that my order was placed after 2 pm. I had to get a little stern with him because he was almost being a butt whole and all I wanted was my coffee(s) and breakfast. The food was not amazing but the atmosphere(design) and the people who handed me a menu when I walked in or my food. Those people really made me return each and every day of my visit to SF. A few years ago people were worried about their jobs or where they next pay check was coming from. We should be grateful to serve the community. The nearby hotel did not recommend this spot to me. I made a mistake and turned the wrong corner and found an unique spot and a...
Read moreThis is a casual and simple restaurant with standard American fast food and drinks. The restaurant is very differently decorated, and depending on your taste, you might find it nice. There is no table service here - you must order everything at the counter, where you will get a flagpole number to bring to the table. The man at the door explained the process and gave us menus upon entering the restaurant. You have to order the food and drinks and then find a table, but the drinks are given to you at the counter where you order. The tables and chairs are sturdy but rather dirty. We had to ask for new glasses twice as they were incredibly dirty.
The staff is friendly, except the man at the door, but you really only interact with them while ordering. We found the process impersonal and gave the dining experience a sense of being at a truck stop rather than a restaurant.
We ordered sandwiches, chicken wings, and burgers as the main courses are only available after 4pm. The food was delivered to our table reasonably fast.
The food tasted fine, but was nothing special. There are tons of better restaurants in the area and we will not be coming back. That said, if you want a quick bite and don‘t care so much about the ambience and the quality of the food, this restaurant is fine. Or if you just want to have a drink.
