Whitechapel has an awesome atmosphere paired with expensive yet inventive drinks
I've been to Whitechapel a couple times and it is a great place. The decor is lovely, the food is shockingly good, and the drinks are amazing. Reserve a seat for a chance to sit but if you don't mind standing there is ample space.
Decor: Whitechapel has a 1920s subway theme to it. The lighting and theme around it feel good as it provides enough of a vibe that makes it feel solid. The seats are comfortable if you're able to get one. If you need a seat then I would highly recommend reserving for a time. That being said it does still have a "tech bro" vibe to it. It's not too bad but if you're looking for diversity you ain't getting it here.
Food/Drinks: The drinks are great and creative. I had several different ones with various different mixtures and they taste amazing. Their cocktail list is very long and because of that there is a little bit of something for everyone. The food also ended up being done very well. Their version of Indian American fusion tasted particularly good. I'd recommend trying out the tater tots if you have the chance, they are particularly good.
Service: The table service was particularly good. I was catered to pretty frequently without a strong need to have to find someone. The food can take a while to make so be prepared to sit down and wait for a while.
Overall a great time with good food and drinks and great service. I highly recommend it if you...

There's lots of great reviews of the stellar drinks and many photos of the super awesome decor and ambiance. So I will share my brief thoughts on the food: underwhelming.
For starters, the online ordering menu and the paper menu are almost identical, but there's just a couple random things that are online that aren't on the paper menu. But there's a $1 (in)convenience fee for each time you put in an online order. Though I'm sure you could still order those items in person.
I had the fish and chips, which made me a little sad. Rather than a more typical one or two large pieces of fish, it was four very tiny curled-up pieces of "white fish". Not sure what part of the fish they were, but the battering was a bit tough and no longer crispy or hot. The fries were also a very inconsistent mixed bag. Most were almost great, but some were just kinda limp and funky. That said, everything was really excellently seasoned. The lemon wedge came rubbed with some type of curry or chili powder and the fries had a similar seasoning added to them. Really great flavors and the same chili/spice notion can be found in a few of their cocktails.
tl/dr: Come for the drinks and awesome space and don't show up hungry. If you can do that, you won't be...
Read moreMixed feelings about this place. Happy to see they are part of the trend to take reservations for cocktails and avoid HH madness.
Drunk a Hal Jordan, which was a fantastic cocktail (whatever pomp & whimsy is, is delicious!) and an expensive g & t which was good not as mind blowing as I expected it to be at a gin bar, but guess there is only so much you can do with gin and tonic..
Disappointment was in the couple of food dishes we tried - mixed root vegetables and samosa. Both were very small portions for ~$10 price tag. Veg was tasty, but a few sprouts, carrots etc for ten bucks? That's a handsome markup! Samosa were not good at all. Three small and pretty sad looking samosa with an overly thick and sweet dipping sauce (reminded me of British HP sauce)
I can intimately vouch to the sauce's viscosity as unfortunately our server accidentally dropped a bowl of it when clearing from another table, impressively splattering us and our possessions. The server kind of wandered away, which was strange, but one of her colleagues was very nice in apologizing and helping us clean up.
4.5* for drinks 2* for food and being doused in...
