10/5 Stars – Pronto Pizzeria is a Hidden Gem in San Francisco!
Today for lunch, my coworker and I stopped by Pronto Pizzeria, and from the moment we walked in, I could tell we were in for something special. The first thing that stood out was how incredibly clean and well-organized the place was—everything looked fresh, spotless, and inviting. The menu was clear and easy to navigate, and let me just say… the prices are absolutely unbeatable, especially for San Francisco!
I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak, and let me tell you—this wasn’t just a sandwich... it was an experience. The guy in my photos (I wish I got his name!) was genuinely one of the kindest and most helpful people I’ve ever encountered behind a counter. He walked me through the menu with such care and enthusiasm, you could tell he truly cared about the food and the customer experience. Just great energy all around.
When my sandwich was ready, he handed me the first half, packed the rest up neatly, and asked to see my reaction on the first bite. I took that bite and—no joke—I stood up, spun in a circle, and did a little happy dance. That’s how good it was.
Served on perfectly toasted sourdough, this Philly Cheesesteak was melty, spicy, flavorful, and absolutely unforgettable. The cheese pull? Arm-length. The meat was juicy, the spice level was just right (though fair warning: that last bite had some serious heat—so make sure you’re into spicy food if you order it spicy like I did!). Every single ingredient was perfectly portioned, and the balance of flavors was masterfully done. As someone who considers themselves a bit of a sandwich connoisseur, this was easily top 3 best sandwiches I’ve had in my life.
As if that wasn't enough, the same gentleman offered me a complimentary item when I returned—just out of kindness and genuine hospitality. You don’t see that kind of thoughtful customer service every day. It wasn’t just good food—it was a vibe. Clean, kind, flavorful, and professional. What more can you ask for?
They also had a selection of homemade desserts that looked absolutely delicious, but unfortunately I was too full to indulge. Next time, I’ll be saving room!
To sum it up: If I could give this place 10 stars out of 5, I would. I’m officially a regular from this day forward. If you ever come across Pronto Pizzeria, do yourself a favor—go in, treat yourself, and thank me later. You won’t regret it.
Shoutout to the amazing staff for showing genuine respect and hospitality. It’s people like this who remind me how important it is to support each other and lift up our communities. Treat people right, and the world...
Read moreIf you're calling to order pizza at Pronto Pizza, just HANG UP & call somewhere else! Horrible experience!!! While staying at a local motel in San Fran, CA, who recommended them, we ordered pizza to be delivered. The driver didn't show up for almost 2 hours, he kept calling & saying I'm down here by the door, when I'd go down to the door, no one was there, then his manager would call back to say, oops sorry, he must be at the wrong location. Not being from the area, I didn't know where their pizza place was in comparison to my hotel, but I assumed close by since the hotel recommended them. Turns out, they were only 1 mile from my hotel, but somehow got lost??? (I don't buy it) The Manager stated he'd take 20% off of my bill, & since they had already charged my credit card, what could I do but agree. Well... I got home, checked my bank acct & they never took any money off! I have called 3 times since then & they keep telling me the manager is the only one who can fix it, but each time he is conveniently "not there" & still hasn't returned my messages. Oh & the food, was of course cold & not good in my opinion (not just because I'm upset about $), it was very garlic-y & lots of grease... whatever you do, stay away from Pronto Pizza, unless of course you enjoy crappy service! Extremely...
Read moreI mostly come here for the sandwiches rather than the pizza since they are still a great value. The whole pizzas seems to be at market rate in the area around 17 for a medium, which isn't very competitive pricing unfortunately, so I don't buy them.
I like that you can easily see them making the food behind the counter so you can see what they put in your meals.
I don't like the pizza slice prices at 4-5.50 though and wish they could be cheaper. The new desserts are outrageously priced though, charging 2.50 for one cookie and 5 or 5.50 for a small slice of cheesecake.
The place a few years ago had a problem with one or two rodents entering in the always unlocked door and most likely looking for food in the trashcan, but nothing was done by the workers then. I haven't seen it since though.
The chalk-based menu they have is largely limited. They have a lot more menu items that can be found on the brochure.
This isn't my business, but I do disagree with giving leftover slices to the less fortunate after closing. If you charge for something, giving someone the same thing for free is a slap in the face.
Other than that,...
