Whole Cakes - SoMa — Restaurant in San Francisco

I don’t know where to start. I absolutely don’t recommend this bakery specially if you would like to receive your order based on the photos on their website (who wouldn’t). I had an event last week and I was so excited to order this mocha cake because it looked to match with my table decorations. As you can see in the picture I was in shock when I picked up my order 😳 the people in store told me that this is how they have been designing the mocha cake for the past few years!! I’m wondering why they haven’t changed the photo on their website yet (well, because the current photo is pretty and deceiving). They don’t respect their customers to show the real/updated photos! After I complained they said we can design the cake for you if we charge you extra (so, I believe they could have made it pretty at first if they really wanted to)!! They referred me to talk to their chef. The owner/chef simply responded “topping options for the cakes, depending on what is available in different seasons”. What??! All I see in the original image is chocolate on the top of the cake not some seasonal fruits or flowers!! I have shopped at this cake location for a while but won't be going there anymore. After I call and confirm an order which they had in stock I tried to give the cashier my card number. But the person over the phone could not hear my card number very well. After repeating it several times they decided to sale the cake I already reserved instead of waiting to get my card number. The cake sold was the one my coworker really wanted for her birthday. I think it is very unprofessional and I've been buying cakes their for my coworkers since 2018. If it was just the cashier I would not care as much but it was the manager that made the decision to sale the cake and offer me another type of cake even after I reserved it and was trying to pay. I have a speech impairment so sometimes its hard for people to understand me over the phone. As a company you should be more patient with individuals or offer an alternative not sale the cake they already reserved and was trying to pay for. I won't be going...

Sonya has done it again! This is the second time I've bought a cake from Sonya and I can always count on her to create beautiful, delicious, and perfectly balanced cakes. This time it was for my sister's future sister in law's birthday and the future in laws' entire family (grandma, aunts, uncles and more) were going to dinner with all of our family for the first time. High stakes so I knew the only person I could count on to impress the future family was Sonya and she exceeded our expectations.
