I should have first read the reviews here about the aura of superiority, and rudeness of some of the bartenders. Perhaps some of you people need to understand that customers are the only reason you have a job in the first place.
Went here 2 days in a row. 5/16 and 5/17. First day, no problems. Male bartender, good experience.
Second day evening, upon sitting at the bar I could feel that the female bartender didn't look happy that we sat down. Maybe because we're Asian. Who knows. She immediately gives us the side eye and says, "I need to see IDs right away." No problem, my friend who is 30yo gives her his Canadian ID, and his Canadian military ID. She demands his passport. He has a picture of it on his phone. Not good enough. Ok that's not a problem. It is what it is. She could have simply left it there.
But no. As I try to order a beer from her (I'm 40 and have my California ID). I'm given a lecture on how if I were to share my beer with my friend (the 30yo), our entire group of 40 people would be kicked out. This was repeated multiple times for no reason other than grandstanding/power trip. On top of some other condescending and unnecessary comments I don't need to repeat. Basically the vibe that I was receiving was that we were unwelcome, and I'll leave it at that. I never got the beer, and after the 3rd time I was told the same thing, I simply turned around and walked away. I'm not getting lectured by a dummy. Maybe the bartender was having a bad day, I don't care. Take a walk.
I don't really leave reviews, but I'm leaving this review for others, and to alert the business owner. Since I'm a business owner too, and I don't think this is the kind of person you want in a customer service position. We would have spent upwards of several hundred dollars maybe more. You lost that business, forever. This time, next time, and every time we go to San Pedro Square. I don't care if you're racist. Just say that, instead of treating people badly while hiding behind "rules". I would...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible experience at Market Beer Company. I went with friends to enjoy the evening, but the bartender, Andrew, ruined it. When I showed him my passport as ID, he demanded to see my visa, treating me with unnecessary suspicion and clear disrespect. It felt completely discriminatory and made me uncomfortable. Later, while we were waiting for food, Andrew told his manager (his name was Mike ig) that I was “sharing drinks” because a drink was on the table near my friend, who wasn’t even drinking. His manager then approached us aggressively and kicked us out, accusing us without reason. This place has zero respect for its customers and enables discriminatory behavior. With treatment like this, I hope management reconsiders employing people like Andrew and Mike. Avoid this place if you expect a welcoming...
Read moreI’ve traveled all over California trying craft beers. I don’t remember the last time I left a 1-star review.
When I asked for a splash (less than 1/2 oz) of 2 different beers, the bar tender at this brewpub Anthony refused. He said I could have 1. I wanted to make sure I was getting the right beer, especially at the price of $10 per pint. This is the first time I’ve EVER been refused a splash, less than a tablespoon of beer to ensure I was getting the right beer. I could understand if I was getting 3-5 ounces of beer, but a splash, REALLY?
The poor service absolutely affected his tip unfortunately. And, when I normally have great experiences at breweries and brewpubs all over the state, AND definitely leave reviews at them…this one earned a negative review. I’d give zero...
