My recent visit to Dr.ink in San Jose was nothing short of an extraordinary culinary experience. As soon as I walked through the doors, I was greeted by a chic aesthetic that exudes both sophistication and comfort. Every detail, from the carefully selected furniture to the elegant lighting, contributed to an ambiance that felt both modern and inviting. The minimalist décor, punctuated by tasteful art pieces, set the stage for what would be an exceptional gastronomic journey. It became immediately apparent that Dr.ink had put considerable thought into creating an environment that was as pleasing to the eyes as it was to the palate.
Among the many delightful offerings, the Thai Brulee stood out as a highlight. This dish was an innovative twist on the traditional crème brûlée, infused with subtle yet distinctly Thai flavors that danced on the tongue. The creamy texture and caramelized sugar crust were perfectly executed, showcasing the skill and creativity of the chefs. The Thai Brulee not only met but exceeded my expectations, encapsulating Dr.ink's commitment to blending classic techniques with inventive flavors. It was a harmonious blend of East and West, a testament to the café's dedication to pushing culinary boundaries.
Complementing the Thai Brulee were a variety of exquisite pastries that adorned the café's display. Each pastry was a work of art, crafted with precision and flair. From delicate macarons to buttery croissants, every bite transported me to a world of refined flavors and textures. The pastries alongside the specialty dishes like the Thai Brulee made my visit to Dr.ink a memorable one. The café successfully balanced a chic aesthetic with outstanding culinary offerings, ensuring that every patron left not only satisfied but eager to return for yet another taste of their...
Read moreDr.ink is a very aesthetic boba shop that just opened up across the street from San Jose’s San Pedro Square. They’re serving milk teas, colorful milk-based drinks, brewed teas, smoothies plus tea combos, sparkling drinks, and soft serve ice cream.
In addition to the pretty shop, the drinks are hand crafted and served layered so that they’re even more aesthetic. They also use high quality ingredients including organic loose leaf tea, organic milk, housemade fruit puree, and pure cane sugar with no powders or artificial syrups.
The first drink I tried was the Black Nougat Ink Lattea. It’s a milk-based drink with black, nougat “ink” that gives it a cool color as well as a nutty flavor. The nutty nougat flavor is very noticeable, and it reminds me a bit of the flavor of oat milk. It’s likely not going to be a go-to for me, but it is very good. I’d say check it out at least once, especially if you like nutty things.
My second drink was their Ruby Black Milk Tea. It’s a black tea with a slightly red color to it served with milk of your choice and boba. The drink was smooth, light, and refreshing, especially for a milk tea. The boba was a good consistency, and just a tad on the chewier side.
I also made sure to try out the Black Nougat Soft Serve. It has a bit of a frozen yogurt flavor, but the nutty nougat flavor is definitely discernable. It was smooth and creamy which speaks to the quality. It’s also topped with pieces of toffee for a nice crunch and sweeter flavor.
Overall, good drinks, cool space, and nice staff, so I’m...
Read moreNot sure why people are raving about this place, but honestly it needs a lot of work. The decor is nice but that's the only thing going for them. The ice cream was unbelievablely sweet and the toffee on it tasted burnt, like they burned the sugar (black nougat flavor). As someone who goes to different tea places on a daily basis, this was an utter disappointment. I understand that this is a soft-opening period but having a barista at the counter who doesn't know anything at all about the drinks/items sold is unacceptable. I always get 0-25% sugar and despite asking for the same, they couldn't even make a regular brewed tea with no sugar and their 25% was more of a 50-75% depending on the drink (for the black inklatea & the black tea w/ milk foam it was more of 50% in regular places & in the avocado fruittea it was more of 75%). Their claim of their 100% sugar being 75% of regular tea places is obviously a scam if their 25% is 50-75% in regular places. You should honestly only go here if you want to get an unbelievable amount of sugar. I drove for 40 minutes to reach them, got 3 drinks & 1 ice cream and was incredibly dissappointed. As mentioned, I get teas on almost a daily basis & even if something is sweeter than I wanted, I'm usually very understanding about it. I will come back once more to try a few more things of their menu, but I have little hope for anything better unless they learn from their mistakes during the...
