Overall we had a very good experience with Hyatt House!! There was just some minor things that I'll mention first to get out of the way.
Number one: Do not waste your money on parking at the hotel! They charge about $17.80 per night (their website says $15) and it's unnecessary as there is plenty of free parking along the street on Fernandez Juncos near Isla Grande street. This is less than a 2 min walk. We parked our rental here every night with no issues. Just be ready to practice your parallel parking, and maybe rent a small car as trying to drive a large vehicle in San Juan is already a bad idea. The front desk actually charged us for the hotel parking even though we didn't use it. They were quick to fix that, but just be aware and always check your receipt when checking out. Number two: The bar only had a single bartender who also was the only cook one evening. This was a bad idea as you can imagine as I tried to order just some simple hummus and after an hour I gave up and had to get a refund. They have a very generous 5pm-10pm happy hour, which is great, but having a bar food menu and no one to cook isn't an ideal practice. Number three: They offered hot tea, which is really great, but halfway through our stay someone began using an old coffee dispenser for the hot tea water. Anyone who drinks tea (or coffee) know that this is a big mistake. You can't mix these containers. It would be the same as offering orange juice from an old coffee container. Just ruins the taste. Number four: They have washable plates and cups for breakfast as is expected, but no silverware. It's all single use plastic ware. Why? It's been proven that covid doesn't spread well through surface contact. Why not bring back the silverware? Why have all of this landfill trash?
Now the good stuff: Great room at a good rate with a generous kitchen and an excellent view! I'd highly recommend the "Bay view" room. It was quiet and everything was clean, and the room cleaning service came by daily if you need it. Location is perfect to get around and only 5 minutes from old San Juan. The breakfast was fantastic! Great amount of hot options and the staff was constantly refilling everything as guests came through. The staff overall was extremely helpful and nice! I know that I nitpicked some things at the start, but overall I'd highly...
Read more2023 I recommend staying in Hyatt Place across the street. Jan $16+ tax for hotel parking
The hotel staff at the front desk were professional & fast during check-in. Also, I saw a security guard in the halls at night probably doing security rounds. However, I recommend Hyatt Place across the street instead. This hotel was simple for a night but compared to the Hyatt across, it is way less modern, has old interior design/fixes and the rooms weren't fully cleaned. See photos. Also, the hot water in the room was VERY HOT, like dangerously hot that can cause burn and boil a cup noodle; definitely not your average hot water temperature from the faucet.
I wouldn't stay here again because of another reason. I rescued a dog off the streets, and when I called about a pet-friendly room, I was told $70~. I tried to explain the situation but the receptionist could care less about waiving the fee. I spoke with their Reservations team but they never called me back with an update. I also stayed at a Wyndham hotel, and they were amazing. The receptionist took my info and told me she'd call me back in a half hour after speaking to her manager. And she did! They both allowed me to stay with the pet fee waived ($75). I will always choose to stay at a hotel with service and professionalism like that.
Similar to the Hyatt across the street, overnight hotel parking was $16 so we parked on the streets. There were a few parking spots even late at night and the area felt really safe for an overnight park. Breakfast in the morning is from 0630-0930.
If this helped, like it so it gets bumped to the top so more people may see it & know about the parking fee &...
Read moreThe hotel was very clean and overall the staff was very friendly. I did have a few hiccups while I was there. first, the air-conditioning is extremely loud and made a loud buzzing sounds all night the only way to solve it was to turn it off, which made the room very hot Who said that I should record it and come back with a video I did record it, but I really didnât have the time to share it with the front desk. Secondly, the front desk did let me know that sometimes that happens and I just have to turn the auto off as someone with ADHD. The humming sound was extremely.difficult to tolerate. On the day of my checkout, I was surprised to find two men who were cleaning the windows and weâre looking right into my room when I told the front desk they said I shouldâve had a notice on my door (which I did not) I was also told work will be starting at nine however, my picture was taken before 9 AM. I just felt like the response was oh well and didnât feel like there was anything that would be done about it as a woman traveling with my niece just made me very uncomfortable. no sense of urgency at the checkout process. Staff will be chitchatting while the line is forming, which is frustrating when a checkout process can be very quick. It wouldâve been nice to see more than one staff member at the desk during peak hours. ||||They have a few guest laundry machines on the 6th floor. $3.00 to wash and $3.00 to dry. Quarter operated. They sell detergent in the gift shop but when I was there, they didnât have any. ||||This hotel is the equivalent of a Hampton Inn. It was clean. I might stay there again, but it wouldnât be my...
