My girlfriend and I came to old San Juan for a vacation. I havenât been to Puerto Rico 25 years, it was very excited. Instead of his your family I thought I just make this a great experience for me and my girlfriend. When we arrived, we both were excited, especially to have food from our roots. Cooked in the land of our roots. When we arrived at Marinos, The mood looked pretty good, people sitting and eating, smoking hookahâs. However, we stood there for 20 minutes before anyone even spoke to us. I saw 2 empty tables and asked a man waiter if we can be seen. He just walked passed us. When he passed again, I pointed at one of the tables and said, âcan we sit hereâ.. the man said, âyeahâ. My girlfriend and I sat down at the empty table. We waited there 30 minutes and not 1 waitress or waiter even spoke to us. Not ordering a drink or anything. I vocally asked âcan we order a drinkâ to one of the waitresses. She said, âIâm not your waitressâ.. finally 5 minutes lasted, the man that I first spoke with came up and asked what we wanted to drink.
We both ordered piña coladaâs served in pineapples. By that time, we both were frustrated and wanted to leave, but we decided to try to be optimistic and see if the service would change. About 15 minutes after our drinks came, the man came back and asked what we wanted to eat. We both order mofongo with shrimp. The food took about another 30 minutes to come out. The mofongo wasnât all that good, I just picked the shrimp out and ate that. The plantains of the mofongo was rough to eat. 10 minutes later, the man came back with the bill.. $81.85!! YES... $81.85 for 2 mofongos and 2 piña coladaâs.. there was NO WAY. I attempted to speak to the waiter explaining that it must be an error, he contested it wasnât.. by this time, my girlfriend and I was extremely annoyed and angry.. she told me to just let it go and for us to just leave.. trying to avoid confrontation, I handed over my debit card. The man came back with the receipt and had the nerve to say âright here you can give a tipâ (pointing at the receipt line where the tip percentages are).. and he continued, âor not give me a tip, itâs up to youâ. He was laughing.. I was furious. I signed the receipt and we both stood up and left.. it bothered me the whole time as we walked back to our hotel. I had to prove to myself that the bill was mistaken.. I pulled up the website and menu and saw that the waiter actually double charged us. My girlfriend refused to let me go back and have it fixed. This caused an argument between us that totally ruined the night.. she wanted me to just let it go.. I wanted to go back and complain.. definitely a bad experience I wonât soon forget..
I see that their are multiple other reviews about bad service at Morenoâs.. I shouldâve researched it before I came.. Iâd never come back. I donât recommend Morenoâs to ANYONE. Bad service. Big mistake. Bad impression....
Read moreThis place has AMAZING stuffed tostones! OH MY GOD! Our server tonight (I'm so mad I didn't get her name so I could shout her out!!) was PHENOMINAL! She made suggestions on the menu and everything she selected was on point. It is our last night in Puerto Rico and we spent it perfectly. We sat on the outside seating and the atmosphere is so dope! The string lights outside were extremely esthetically pleasing. We got the appetizer sampler and it fed 4 of us (4 of each thing...bunch of queso frito) along with the tostones (came with 6 decent sized tostones and a lot of meat on them). $30 for that combo of food. We got a blueberry mint hookah. Think we paid $22 but the xoals burnes slow and we didn't need to get new coals at all during our meal. Drinks were really weak. That is the only thing that my table complained about. I don't drink so it didn't effect my rating. Mellow, good vibes, good food, great tasting hookah, great service! We'll def be back next time we come! Thank you Old San Juan!!!!...
Read moreAfter walking for about 2 country miles, I wanted to get a margarita. I really should have known better since this spot is right off the cruise port, but I gave them a try anyway. The waitress told me that I could sit inside it outside and I chose outside.
I thought she was going to serve me, but she sat down and got on her phone. So, there's another waiter serving another table, and I still get no acknowledgment. I should have left then and there, but I'm being patient.
I beckon for him to come over and finally order a watermelon margarita. I later try to get his attention because I need napkins, and his face is glued to his cellphone. I finally get my napkins and order a different drink. 5 minutes later, there is no drink. I ask the waitress who's still on her phone, "Where's my drink?" and she finally calls "Javier" based on my receipt, and he goes to get my drink. He was inattentive, stayed on his phone, and the drinks weren't good. ...
