My girlfriend and I came to old San Juan for a vacation. I haven’t been to Puerto Rico 25 years, it was very excited. Instead of his your family I thought I just make this a great experience for me and my girlfriend. When we arrived, we both were excited, especially to have food from our roots. Cooked in the land of our roots. When we arrived at Marinos, The mood looked pretty good, people sitting and eating, smoking hookah‘s. However, we stood there for 20 minutes before anyone even spoke to us. I saw 2 empty tables and asked a man waiter if we can be seen. He just walked passed us. When he passed again, I pointed at one of the tables and said, “can we sit here”.. the man said, “yeah”. My girlfriend and I sat down at the empty table. We waited there 30 minutes and not 1 waitress or waiter even spoke to us. Not ordering a drink or anything. I vocally asked “can we order a drink” to one of the waitresses. She said, “I’m not your waitress”.. finally 5 minutes lasted, the man that I first spoke with came up and asked what we wanted to drink.

We both ordered piña colada‘s served in pineapples. By that time, we both were frustrated and wanted to leave, but we decided to try to be optimistic and see if the service would change. About 15 minutes after our drinks came, the man came back and asked what we wanted to eat. We both order mofongo with shrimp. The food took about another 30 minutes to come out. The mofongo wasn’t all that good, I just picked the shrimp out and ate that. The plantains of the mofongo was rough to eat. 10 minutes later, the man came back with the bill.. $81.85!! YES... $81.85 for 2 mofongos and 2 piña colada’s.. there was NO WAY. I attempted to speak to the waiter explaining that it must be an error, he contested it wasn’t.. by this time, my girlfriend and I was extremely annoyed and angry.. she told me to just let it go and for us to just leave.. trying to avoid confrontation, I handed over my debit card. The man came back with the receipt and had the nerve to say “right here you can give a tip” (pointing at the receipt line where the tip percentages are).. and he continued, “or not give me a tip, it’s up to you”. He was laughing.. I was furious. I signed the receipt and we both stood up and left.. it bothered me the whole time as we walked back to our hotel. I had to prove to myself that the bill was mistaken.. I pulled up the website and menu and saw that the waiter actually double charged us. My girlfriend refused to let me go back and have it fixed. This caused an argument between us that totally ruined the night.. she wanted me to just let it go.. I wanted to go back and complain.. definitely a bad experience I won’t soon forget..

I see that their are multiple other reviews about bad service at Moreno’s.. I should’ve researched it before I came.. I’d never come back. I don’t recommend Moreno’s to ANYONE. Bad service. Big mistake. Bad impression....

This place has AMAZING stuffed tostones! OH MY GOD! Our server tonight (I'm so mad I didn't get her name so I could shout her out!!) was PHENOMINAL! She made suggestions on the menu and everything she selected was on point. It is our last night in Puerto Rico and we spent it perfectly. We sat on the outside seating and the atmosphere is so dope! The string lights outside were extremely esthetically pleasing. We got the appetizer sampler and it fed 4 of us (4 of each thing...bunch of queso frito) along with the tostones (came with 6 decent sized tostones and a lot of meat on them). $30 for that combo of food. We got a blueberry mint hookah. Think we paid $22 but the xoals burnes slow and we didn't need to get new coals at all during our meal. Drinks were really weak. That is the only thing that my table complained about. I don't drink so it didn't effect my rating. Mellow, good vibes, good food, great tasting hookah, great service! We'll def be back next time we come! Thank you Old San Juan!!!!...

After walking for about 2 country miles, I wanted to get a margarita. I really should have known better since this spot is right off the cruise port, but I gave them a try anyway. The waitress told me that I could sit inside it outside and I chose outside.

I thought she was going to serve me, but she sat down and got on her phone. So, there's another waiter serving another table, and I still get no acknowledgment. I should have left then and there, but I'm being patient.

I beckon for him to come over and finally order a watermelon margarita. I later try to get his attention because I need napkins, and his face is glued to his cellphone. I finally get my napkins and order a different drink. 5 minutes later, there is no drink. I ask the waitress who's still on her phone, "Where's my drink?" and she finally calls "Javier" based on my receipt, and he goes to get my drink. He was inattentive, stayed on his phone, and the drinks weren't good. ...

Very chill spot for food, drinks, hooka or all three. Eat, drink and dance inside with AC or enjoy outside seating. Ate here 4 difffent days. Busy spot at times and service can be slow. Try to be patient. Food is delicious. Atmosphere is great. Music is great. Nightlife here is just great. One night they ran out of mofongo, they let us order from the restaurant next door and bring it over. Only complaint is the very tiny not so appealing bathroom. But overall I recommend.

I got a virgin Piña Colada and the waiter tipped himself extra money and charged me incorrectly even though the price is clearly stated on the menu posted outside. After I asked about the price, he made up some excuse. This is almost the 3rd time someone has tried to scam me in Puerto Rico. I am just trying to warn people that if this kind of person employed at their place of business, then I would go somewhere else with more honest employees. (5/12/25 at 4:30pm)

Stopped by for happy hour before heading elsewhere for dinner. If you’re into margaritas or sangria, happy hour here is a win. If you’re into beer...well, prepare to get cozy with Miller. I ended up with a Heineken, which felt like a diplomatic compromise. We sat outside and enjoyed some quality people-watching — easily the highlight. The service? Let’s just say it was operating in a different time zone. But since we were only here for drinks, it worked out fine.
