We took two tours over two days: Old San Juan with Melanie and the El Yunque rainforest with Jorge. Both tours were excellent, and both Melanie and Jorge were Fantastic! Melanie obviously loves what she does. Her excitement, personality, and background education in tourism meant that she was excited, pleasant, well-versed to answer all of our questions, very capable of giving an enjoyable, educational, and memorable walking tour of OSJ. Highly recommend booking her tour. I also cannot praise Jorge enough. As with Melanie, his love of what he does and his extensive background education - including a degree in biology - meant that he was able to answer both ‘big picture’ and very specific/detailed questions about the rainforest, culture, environment, and history. He could answer all our questions as simply or in as much detail as we needed. He was very personable, friendly, expressive in his love of the rainforest and of PR and its culture. He was attentive at all times, pointing out rainforest features, flora and fauna that we happened to encounter. The tour itself was a great mix of hiking, sight-seeing, history lessons (ancient and recent), cultural perspectives, picture opportunities, and biodiversity information. I would highly recommend booking him as well for your tour of El Yunque. It was also nice to see that both of these guides knew each other and had worked together - nice sense of support and community within the tour company. That we had two excellent tours with two fantastic guides showed just how well this tour company has been in both hiring and/or training only tour guides. Highly...

Our guided tour of Old San Juan with Jorge was the highlight of our trip! From the moment we met him, it was clear we were in great hands. Jorge is not only incredibly knowledgeable about the rich history and culture of San Juan, but he’s also a natural storyteller — passionate, engaging, and full of fascinating facts and anecdotes you won’t find in any guidebook.
He brought the cobblestone streets and colorful colonial buildings to life, connecting the past with the present in such a thoughtful way. Whether we were exploring the majestic forts, tucked-away plazas, or charming local spots, Jorge made every stop meaningful and memorable.
He was also super friendly and attentive to everyone in the group, answering questions with enthusiasm and even giving us great tips on where to eat and shop afterward. You can tell he truly loves what he does.
If you’re visiting San Juan, do not miss this tour — and definitely ask for Jorge! It’s an unforgettable experience that will give you a whole new appreciation for this beautiful,...
Read moreThis was by far the worst tour I have ever been on. It rained almost the whole time, and we had to remain under awnings (if we could find one) - this was to be a “Sunset” tour as well; the tour should have been canceled due to weather/rain. Another tour guide stopped and allowed participants to buy umbrellas and their tour continued, while our group waited under covering for the rain to stop before we would dash off to the next location.
Furthermore, it was Good Friday and almost everything in old San was closed - this should have been disclosed prior to booking. On top of that, our guide would continuously say “This is what/where/how we usually go.” We did not get much of a history tour of San Juan, as our guide was too busy taking photos/recording the precession in the Cathedral. Moreover, once we finally arrived at the Castillo, we learned more by listening to another tour guide. All in all, it was a terrible tour/terrible guide; it was a complete waste of...
