I came with my family of 4 and was excited for this tour. I knew another family also in Puerto Rico and they met us at the tour. The tour guide approached us at the first stop (the church) and told us she needed $100 because we had more than 5 people. I explained that we only had 4 people. She asked if I knew the other group that just arrived. I told her, yes. She said that because I knew the other group we would all have to pay because that makes it over 5 people. I thought that was odd but I was looking forward to this “free” tour so I paid her. The other group I knew was upset by this so they left. The tour guide gave us our money back. My family made it to the end of the tour. Majority of it was her reading items off the menus on the street and plugging different vendors. Then we all waited in lines to purchase these different paletas and things. We thanked the tour guide after the tour and continued on with our day and went to the beach. Later that night my friend in the other group received a hostile text saying that she needs to send her money!! Um?? She claimed she saw her at the end of the tour! My friends were nowhere near the area having lunch with their kids! I understand the importance of tipping and paying if your party is over 5, but this is one of the most odd, unprofessional interactions I’ve ever had 😂 Not a great tour and she harassed my friends multiple times for money after essentially kicking them out. My friend had to directly tell her to leave us alone! Probably just find a nice 40$ tour guide that’s not going to try to scam and harass you on a...
Read moreThis was our first time taking the free walking tour in Old San Juan, and we were truly impressed by its quality. The tour lasts about an hour and a half, and our guide, Juan, was incredibly knowledgeable about Puerto Rico’s history. He was also very courteous, always waiting for the entire group to arrive before sharing the next part of the story. On top of that, he had a great sense of humor—at one point, he even pretended to sing as if he were performing at a Bad Bunny concert. You could really feel his love and passion for the history of Puerto Rico. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn more about this beautiful island. Supporting tours like this is also a meaningful way to give back to the locals who share their culture...
Read moreThis is such a great and informative tour and it's free!!! They do ask for donations of at least $10/person. That's so much cheaper than the other tours and I believe you get the same information and same stops as many others. The guide was very good and very knowledgeable (see picture, I can't remember her name). We even got a mini salsa lesson. That was fun. There were several stops for water and a popsicle store. The guide was very considerate and helpful to those who may have had a few issues with walking the whole 2 hours.
The history of San Juan was very interesting. Hoping to return. I highly recommend this tour! So glad my friend found this tour. Don't sleep on it because it's free. You will be well informed...
