Our hotel recommended this place. A little difficult to find the entrance to as Gmaps doesn't give you the entrance. Let me say that first the service was great. Loved our waiter. The drinks were superb and there was enough of a "tropical" selection that you feel like you aren't at home. I looked at the menu online and fell in love with a few options. Please know the food was good! But the menu changes often, so don't set your heart on anything. The chicken pasta was good. I needed a bit of salt, but I would order again. It wasn't what I imagined the lobster pasta would have been (don't set your heart on an old menu!)or the ceviche. My sweetheart got the skirt steak and it was great! He loved the beabs and rice side. I'm not fond of beans and rice, but I will say it was good. They didn't have the coconut ice cream I had my heart set on (not on menu) or guava cheesecake (on menu). My sweetheart loved the little flan. The drink menu was the best. Try everything on it! Overall, I would go back, but after looking at the menu. The place the G Maps takes you when looking for this place had a nice-looking menu.

I spent a while walking around OSJ looking for a quiet outdoor lunch spot with some shade, and this was the best option I saw. I didn't want to be on a busy sidewalk or inside a noisy, crowded tourist spot. Also, being midday, I didn't really consider rooftops. Space is at a premium in OSJ, so I think the only reason a place like this is able to exist is that it's part of the Hotel El Convento. I could see this not being great if the place was packed with a wedding party or convention, but we walked in at a good time. Seating options were varied and comfortable, and we chose the lounge style low tops as it seemed to best fit the vibe. Speaking of vibe, the shaded courtyard with its titular 300 year old Nispero tree couldn't have been better. The food was good for a hotel restaurant, as was the cocktail I had. This was honestly probably the best lunch I had in OSJ, all things considered.

I wish I could have all my meals at this restaurant. If you're looking for stellar service, a beautiful eating experience and a charming aesthetic, El Convento passes with flying colors! The entrance to the restaurant is through the El convento hotel lobby which has gorgeous chandeliers and a beautiful checkered marble floor. You enter the patio surrounded by verdant palm trees and balconies overlooking the patio area with the sun peeking through and light jazz music pouring through the restaurant. You are then greeted by the nicest hosts asking you to sit down for a meal that should earn a Michelin star on it's presentation alone. The dinner menu was incredible with wagyu burgers, ribeye steaks, vegetarian and pescatarian options. We loved it so much we went back for breakfast and were not disappointed. Tony ,one of the waiters that helped us out was out of this world. He was fast, attentive ,welcoming and warm. We got the omelette and the American breakfast with OJ that was just squeezed out of fresh oranges. Literally the best breakfast ,atmosphere and vibe I was...

Last night I had my graduation dinner at this restaurant. We had made a reservation for 27 people from the start to the end the manager Dennise was there to guide me and my mom step by step on how it was going to be. She was always very nice, profesional and didn’t hesitate to get me what i wanted even though it seemed impossible. We arrived at the restaurant around 7:00 pm reservation was also at 7pm my guest didn’t all get there until 8:00-8:30 I thought it was gonna be a disaster but thanks to our waiter Marien Morell she made me feel calm and helped me enjoyed my night. Let me say I’ve worked in hospitality my whole life so has my family but i’ve never seen such a wonderful server as this young lady. She took care of my group with the manager all by themselves without taking long and my whole group loved them. Thank you very much for everything you ladies did last night. Food was amazing and so was everything else. Totally...
