It was my birthday and my friend and I decided to have lunch during our shopping trip! We were starving and stumbled upon this adorable cafe full of radiant bursts of colors and culture! The minute you walk in, youâre greeted with an excited smile. The young man working there (I didnât catch his name, but he did offer) had such a warm and caring energy and seemed genuinely happy we came in. Corazon Cafe is magical, colorful and full of life. Its namesake really reflects the atmosphere, making such a small space feel like a grand dining hall. I started with their nostalgic marzipan latte which was beautifully crafted and the flavor was incredible; very smooth! My friend ordered the Horchata that came in a beautiful glass and they give it a whimsical flourish of cinnamon on top. Made my friend smile. We ordered the Chilaquiles, the Chili Relleno, and their Chicken Verde tamale a la cart. Not only were these dishes delicious but they were colorful, creative, and portioned perfectly! They top most dishes with a little pomegranate seeds and pickled onion that just brings excitement to the dishes. the flavors were so fantastic I groove chewed every time. The space is small, so the seating is limited. It was raining so the outside seating wasnât an option, but it was quickly overlooked. The friendly service and amazing latte and food make it a very cozy environment and I recommend this spot to anyone looking for love...
Read moreMy husband and I were visiting in town and decided to come here for breakfast. We were hopeful given all the good reviews.
I ordered the pancakes with fruit, and my husband ordered the breakfast wrap. We were a little disappointed with the selection of food available. It's very limited. I was also hoping for some orange juice, but they didn't have any. Neither my husband nor I was impressed with the food. The pancakes tasted very eggy and the breakfast wrap felt like it was missing something, like it needed potatoes or something. The downtown SLO prices felt overpriced for the quality of the food we received ($33 for just the two entrees).
The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was nice with all the colors and decorations.
We did however notice flies in the cafe when we walked in. At first, I chalked it up to be from the door being open and it being a warm day. But then I noticed a fly on top of the pastries in the pastry case, which I found to be pretty gross. To say the least, we lost our appetites and couldn't finish our food.
Overall, we were disappointed with our experience here and wouldn't...
Read moreFrom the decor to the coffee to the food to the service, Corazon Cafe is worth a visit. My husband took me there this morning after seeing a recommendation on Reddit, and it was so delish!
What we enjoyed eating:
Mazapan Latte: a wonderfully delicious peanutty coffee that smells just like a Butterfinger!
Cafe de Olla: a non-milk brown sugar and cinnamon coffee
Chilaquiles with carne asada: a large portion so enough to split or have for another meal
Pancakes with local berries & banana: a large enough portion to take some home for later (and whatever butter they use on top is a 10/10!)
We met two (of the three) owners while dining. One greeted us upon entering, and was friendly and helpful when we were ordering. Another owner came to our table during our meal to make sure we were enjoying everything, and he was telling us a bit about the history of the restaurant.
I am looking forward to going back, and I will be dreaming of the Mazapan...
