My friend and I attended a concert at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo, Ca., last night and had our own, personal ICE experience. When the concert ended, we approached the stage side entrance to try and meet the musician to tell him how much we loved his performance. We were immediately grabbed by two extremely aggressive security guards who shoved us into the wall and screamed at us. I thought we were going to get dragged off to Alligator Alcatraz. We were absolutely stunned. In all of my years of concert going in the United States I have never, ever experienced any kind of aggression from anyone. When I complained to the theater manager after this event occurred, he said he didn't see what happened and said he would check into it, but he was extremely indifferent and made no apologies or effort to address the issue in our presence even though the security guards who put hands on us stood nearby with smirks on their faces. Folks, the Fremont clearly has customer service and management issues. I have since read that overzealous security guards are a constant problem there. It's no wonder that the theater didn't have that many concert goers. In any event, two women witnessed this aggression toward my friend and I and encouraged us to call the police which we did. We are waiting for the police report and plan to file charges. I hope for the sake of live music events that Fremont management will rethink it customer service policy and hire trained security guards instead of bullies. I won't be going back to that venue until then. What a terrible, sad experience. I've never experienced anything like this in all of my 69 years. Sad...
Read moreI attended the Brat night at the Fremont yesterday. I was appalled at the treatment me and my friend received from the security guard with the undercut and black hair. I was having extreme anxiety and went to the bathroom with my friend to figure out a plan to leave and to go pee. We were in the stall for probably 1-2 minutes. The second I leave the stall the security guard is in my face accusing my friend and I of hooking up or doing drugs?? she was so aggressive and said she would say it louder to humiliate us if we don’t leave immediately. She was EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional. I have never left a bad review in my life that goes to show how shocked I was at the treatment I received. I myself am a trained security guard. The entire point of being a security guard is to PREVENT incidents from occurring. Why didn’t she tell us not to go in together? Why wasn’t there a sign saying 1 person per bathroom? Women use the restroom together all the time, to stick together in a crowded concert venue. It seems like she’s on a power trip. I’ve never had a bad experience at the Fremont but now I never want to go back. I guarantee you there was no one patrolling the men’s restroom. This happened to 4 other groups of girls that I know of. Plus another girl already left a review complaining about the same thing. It’s disgusting to treat people that way, there was no reason to get in my face and ambush me the second we...
Read moreFrom outside the Fremont Theater looks unkept. You can show a buildings charicture without really showing its age. You don't necessary have to let the paint chip. For a historical building one would think the town would do some simple upkeep. The inside of the building seemed ok. The architecture around the ceiling in the main stage area was beautiful but that's to be expected for a building of that era . We traveled all day to attend a concert/meet an greet here. The ticket booth staff was uninformed of the meet times as well as the bands sale of tickets through online vendors like Ticketmaster. So for many fans it was hard to get your already purchased ticket. We were only able to meet the band because of persistence and a lot of luck. Had we not went to the back of the building on our own accord, we would have been out 100 bucks for the vip upgrades we paid for. The security was not properly trained and failed to get acquainted with the bands or thier staff. A couple of the security guys continuously got in the way of the lead singer when he would come off stage to interact with the fans. One wrong step on the guards part and it would have ended bad for the lead man. I think Fremont is probably better suited for a sit down and listen kind of event. Not the jump around high energy of Hobo Johnson and...
