Leaving this here so you all can go talk to one of your local businesses who seem to not care about visitors.
A real conversation I had with the front desk guy who hates his job, Bill, at the Lamplighter Inn. After waiting 15 minutes, he walks in with no acknowledgement that I'm standing there and when he does notice me it's like I had interrupted his favorite TV show:
Me: Hey. I'm in room 2105 and I picked up a rental car and I need to register it so I can park here. (Because every hotel I ever stayed at has you register your car).
Hates his job Bill: We don't do rental cars here.
Me confused: I know. I picked one up. I need to register it so I can park here.
Hates his job Bill: Check in isn't til 3pm.
Me more confused: Are you messing with me? I'm already checked in and I need to register the rental car so it doesn't get towed.
Hates his job Bill: I don't know what you're asking. We don't tow cars here.
Me: So, I can park here and my car doesn't get towed?
Hates his job Bill: Yes you can park here free.
Me: Why not say that at the beginning? If you don't like your job, quit. (Walks out).
I don't write a whole lot of reviews but when I receive either outstanding service or horrible service I will go out of my way to write one. I don't like supporting AirBNB but businesses like this make it hard to support local businesses. I'll never understand those getting into the customer service industry why they don't understand the "service" part. I understand I get what I paid for, it was relatively cheap but between the service, the mold, and the broken shower door, I can honestly say I will never stay here again, nor recommend it to anyone. Also, ensure you get a video of the place before you leave and check your billing statement because I heard from one of the locals that they try and sneak in extra "charges". Whoever manages this place, hire a...
Read moreMy wife and I were visiting SLO on a Tues. afternoon, taking a stroll downtown. We passed by the "visitor center" and decided to go inside. We were the only people visiting at the time, so it wasn't busy. There was a woman sitting behind the counter. Not a very friendly person. Haughty or snobby is a better description. We both felt that she just wanted us to leave so she could be alone again. We travel a lot and visit many local "visitor centers". I have to say, this woman isn't doing anything to...
Read moreWe visited SLO region for the first time and wanted to explore local vineyards not knowing much details. So we came to visitor centre and got great guidance and the warmest welcome by Keri. She basically made a whole day program around the vineyards for us so we didn't have to look for anything and waste time. So helpful and friendly! Thank you Keri! SLO...
