This was the worst dining experience I've ever had! I ordered an arroz con mariscos (paella)and my boyfriend ordered roasted chicken . My rice came first. I took a bite and it was too salty to eat. I was very disappointed. I returned the rice to the waiter and told him clearly I don’t want it anymore and ordered a chicken empanada instead . At the same time, my boyfriend's chicken didn't come out. The waiter said that the chef (the boss) forgot about it and asked if it could be served later. We said no problem. Then my empanada came. For the first time in my life, I ate bones in a empanada ,but I felt that I had already returned a meal and I didn't want to be picky, so I didn't say anything. When I was halfway through the meal, the waiter brought a new paella and said I knew you didn't want it, but the boss insisted on making it again. We said okay, thank you. The new rice was not salty. When the waiter and the boss came to ask, we said that this one was much better. Guess what happened? When it came time to pay the bill, they actually put the paella on it. EXCUSE ME?? My boyfriend didn't say anything and paid the bill. But I still couldn't convince myself. I went back and expressed my confusion and incomprehension to the waiter. You insisted on giving me the paella, which I didn’t want at all ! so why did you charge me? The waiter said he asked the boss, and she said charge us. He said he could discuss it with the boss, but I said no need ! I just wanted to tell you that it was so wrong ! I was very angry! It...
Read moreI can't give it a rating really, because it wasn't open - even an hour AFTER it was supposed to be open? Door was standing wide open. Two huge stuffed Llamas blocking the doorway. Some guy sitting at the bar, but he said he didn't work there??? Nobody else appeared to be inside??? I waited around for someone for about 25 mins. What kind of way is this to run a business???
In response to the owners reply - which they have now DELETED?
How can you be "already closed" an hour AFTER you're listed to OPEN???
And - 'you invite me to check your schedule and find out your hours'? Uhhh...hello....that's WHAT we're talking about here??? Did you even READ what I wrote?
When you post hours-of-operation, that's generally what the public uses in determining whether to go to your place or not - at a certain time.
AND - instead of propping up two stuffed animals in the middle of your doorway, how about you put up - umm - a CLOSED signed - like every...
Read moreWe recently visited SLO for a weekend getaway and excitedly chose Coya for our first dinner based on the high reviews. Unfortunately were quite disappointed. First, the restaurant was very cold inside due to the front door being left open (assuming this was due to the evening farmer's market happening outside.) We had to eat our meal with our coats on. The restaurant was virtually empty and there was no music playing which, combined with the cold temperature, was not a pleasing ambience for dinner. Two of us ordered the Chaufa (mushroom and chicken.) We expected this to be full of Peruvian flavors and sadly, it was not. It wasn't even adequately salted. I'm not a huge hot sauce user but had to use what was offered to give the dish even a bit of flavor. This is a $30 fried rice dish and it was not even close to worth it, considering you can get fantastic fried rice at any Asian restaurant for half that price. Overall a disappointing experience and not worth the $115 bill for three people (and our only beverages...
